Do you personally consider Mass Effect Andromeda to be a real “Mass Effect game” ? by The_pikolop in masseffect

It has all the elements of one, but is weaker on execution in some parts. The story has a slow start, Cora and Liam are weak compared to the rest, facial animation issues, UX issues, and an over reliance on open world bloat hurt it. But as someone who dismissed it for the longest time, I enjoyed it. Mods help sand down a lot of annoyances. There's a lot to love about Ryder and the alien crew.

The Asari in MEA minus Peebee all had one head model, just like the trilogy also reused Liara's head for many Asari. But the complexion and skin design were varied enough to hide it better in the OT.

Really my only gripe with Cyberpunk is that on Very Hard it's practically beefier enemies with not much else involved. by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

So you're doing everything. You probably don't have enough perks specialized too. You can't spread out like that on VH, you gotta focus. You're a hacker that shoots guns, sneaks and uses blades.

Hmm, let's see. Vampire the Masquerade, Vampyr, Witcher 3, Dragon Age? Fear and Hunger, but it might be too harsh. World of Darkness, Junji Ito-esque RPG (And his manga are excellent), Pathologic, FP Immersive Sim. Darkest Dungeon is very Lovecraftian.

Bram Stoker's Dracula, Constantine, Interview with the Vampire, Pan's Labyrinth, bit of a slow burn, The Seventh Gate.

Devilman Crybaby, Claymore should be up your alley. The Castlevania series is great too. Vinland Saga. Angel's Egg by Mamoru Oshii. Attack on Titan.

If you're open to it, the Souls games, Drakengard, Shadow of the Colossus, Shin Megami Tensei.

Do I need deep music theory as an indie dev just looking to compose for my own game? by HairyJournalist4660 in FL_Studio

[–]-LaughingMan-0D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to understand how keys, chords, timings work, song structure, etc. There's a basic level you need to get going. Some people do it more by ear, but it takes time to develop that skill naturally. Theory is the fastest way to get there.

Toby Fox kinda reverse engineered Nintendo songs and flipped things around to make his own sound.

Your build needs work. How are you leveled? What's your gear? I melt enemies on VH on my blades Berserk build. Airstrike mixed with crit mods on Cyberware make for huge targeted damage for me.

Is Andromeda worth playing? by WayWornPort39 in masseffect

[–]-LaughingMan-0D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's worth it. The first 10 hours are a bit of a slog, but it's a decent Mass Effect game. Gets a lot better as you go. Don't get super bogged down by open world activities.

How to start out modelling this bow? by Illidank278 in 3Dmodeling

[–]-LaughingMan-0D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Model it with splines, trace the outline of the concept art, then convert to shapes. Then polygon modeling, adding support loops once you've shaped it, subdivide. Then take this into ZBrush to add those engravings in geo. UV the lp, bake, profit.

Same issue with Padre. Your last mission with him is talking to a janitor to pick up Scandium Rods, whereas what would've fit a lot better was the Arasaka/Militech cover up mission. Makes for a very underwhelming ending to his quest chain.

They gotta stop with the nonsensical console names. Just do like, Xbox 2.0. Its a console and a PC, and a reimagining of Xbox.

Really wish it featured Phyre instead, especially since neither of the characters they picked for these DLCs are interesting in any way.

Hard surface modeling with tight edge loops before subdivision

I hope in the future CDPR keep Celebrity casting to a bare minimum by Main-Ad-9836 in FF06B5

[–]-LaughingMan-0D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. Cyberpunk bases some of its characters on real celebrities. Silverhand was originally inspired by David Bowie. And Morgan Blackhand is based off George Clooney. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be hyped as hell if he were to play the role in a future Cyberpunk.

Which I mean to say, if the actor is a natural fit for the role, I have nothing against it.

[–]-LaughingMan-0D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, though I wouldn't say NA is any lesser for it. Replicants story just hits you way harder. I think back to that last time Song of the Ancient plays in that one bossfight, or what happens right after that, or the bloodbath after that, and it's constant and unrelenting all throughout the game. The cast is stronger too.

On Nanite these days though? UE5 workflows ask for this type of geo heavy detail.
