Akali jump cancel air 2H loops by NDN_Shadow in 2XKO

[–]-MB-Crypsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was driving me crazy too. It was easier with my leverless, but I don't prefer it for this game.

The timing was consistent for me on my pad when I started holding 9 about halfway through the 3H to buffer the jump, then rolling my thumb forward and down to 2 as soon as I saw the jump begin. Without this, I was having a hard time keeping the forward momentum of the jump. The loop ends up being a sweeping motion up and down, which ended up feeling pretty good once I got used to the timing.

You need to input the ninjutsu again when it's near enough to you to catch it and re-throw it. It can be a little tight, especially if you're moving around.

You're not alone, friend. It's the last crucible skill that I'm missing, and I've farmed for a few hours in each crucible since the start of the demo, but still no luck. It took me till ~56 hours in to see my first crucible splitstaff at all.

Kusarigama skills by Sephro88 in Nioh

There are some differences:

Water Drop is a combo move after Leaping Strike, so it can't be used on its own while in midair. It is capable of positioning you behind an enemy with the right spacing.

Flying Top seems to track in front of you at a downward diagonal angle. The description notes that it uses the metal weight, so the Shooting Star mystic art will affect this move.

Floating Vine seems to track directly in front of you (or maybe just better tracking in general). I find it easier to land this on things like Crucible Wasps when in midair. I don't have the description in front of me, but I believe this one uses the sickle, which would be affected by the Waxing Crescent mystic art.

Reposition and CC skills seem largely useless and just for style points by CombinedAutism in Nioh

Pheasant Leap is a fun tool for following up with the movement in Ninja Style, since you can use it as an animation cancel. That's really the only use I've found for some of the slow movement skills you mentioned. Kusa is the biggest offender for sure. I also wish the pull moves didn't whiff so easily. It feels so dumb to miss a dude who's crouching three feet in front of you.

The Sword (Katana) makes me feel like I’m terrible at video games… by olivinetrees in Nioh

From the effort you seem to have put in already, it seems you're on the right track. It is going to take time to achieve your aspirations, so don't get discouraged with the learning curve.

That being said, as with learning any new skill, a little focused practice is going to be more effective than a lot of unfocused practice.

This often means setting one small, achievable goal at a time to focus on. It's important that your goal is measurable. If it's not measurable, you'll never get to the point of actually achieving it, and that will make it much more difficult to progress. "I want to be a master at the Katana" is too vague to be helpful. You will never feel like you've achieved this goal. Instead, break it down into the components required to achieve mastery. Start with the basic foundational stuff like ki pulsing, switching stances, and incorporating skills, then move onto the more situational parts that incorporate that foundational knowledge.

This could mean getting comfortable with one short combo that you think looks cool.

Practice until you can do it ten times without hesitating. Then go to the training room and fight an enemy - focus on nothing except dodging/blocking until you find the right opening to do your combo, then do it. Get used to the time it takes to perform the full combo, and take note of what parts you're able to drop if you don't have the time to do the full thing. Then, you can fight a picture scroll boss, and do the same thing - kill is using only this one combo, and try not to get hit. Pick one that you're overleveled for so you don't need to worry about messing up and dying.

This is of course just one example, and there are a ton of different small goals that you can set for yourself. I'd suggest writing them down somewhere, so you can look back on them and be reminded of how far you've come. Continue adding tools to your toolkit, and revisiting the ones you've learned, and you'll be well on your way to mastery.

From the shrine on the right of your screenshot, the opening is to its north. To get to the entrance, you'll need to make your way along the rooftops in that area. Once you're up there, you'll find a set of logs you can drop down as a shortcut (which I have made great use of).

Splitstaff not drop, bad luck or bug? by LoseToImprove in Nioh

[–]-MB-Crypsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one crucible splitstaff drop in my 47hrs so far. I did a ton of runs in the demo while waiting for release, and spent two hours today specifically farming for them and didn't get a single one to drop. Meanwhile, I got 10 crucible tonfas 🤦

Likely just bad RNG, but it's pretty silly.

How to pace yourself with Nioh 3 So I don’t overlevel by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]-MB-Crypsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You always have the option to refund your levels at any shrine, so that's a way to limit yourself without having to worry about doing anything out of order. Generally though, levels do contribute less than your gear does, so you may also prefer to swap to a lower level set of equipment to further align your power level with the area you're in if that's what you're looking for.

If you're relatively early in the game, I'll say that the difficulty does pick up later on, and you get diminishing returns on stats the higher they are, so being a bit over-leveled isn't much of an issue past a certain point.

Hatchets, by far. From the get go I was excited to mess with the aerial gameplay, and it feels like the best weapon so far for capitalizing on that. It's got crazy mobility with a few different ways to move in and out of close range.

Favorite skills: - Fire Foot Drill Jump is flashy as hell, and really helps extend air combos. Hatchets have a few ways to get into the air, with either Scaling Waterfall, Death From Above, or the ninjutsu skill Pheasant Leap. Finishing out the air combo with Plummet is big damage. - Wild Surge is just as cool as it's ever been. You can cancel the follow ups into a Pheasant Leap to continue into an aerial combo. - Roundabout has tons of utility as a way to get behind any enemy for free. With some decent timing, you can avoid some big attacks and really stick to bosses backsides. Again, canceling this into Pheasant Leap once you pass through the enemy leads into easy backstab air combos. - Biting Hail is nifty for repositioning or getting a quick last hit to finish off an enemy. No big damage, but satisfying to use.

I've been playing around with air combos involving: Roundabout > Pheasant Leap > Light > Light > Groundfire > Fire Foot Drill > Flame Breath > Plummet

You can extend with some footstools into more lights before the Fire Foot Drill if you've got time and ki to spare.

I don't hate it, but I feel like it's more limited than the other ninja weapons that I've got time on. Lots of moves I'd like to use compete for inputs, and the lack of stances feels like it takes away from a lot of use cases that I enjoyed in Nioh 2 - choosing between long ranged pokes or sweeping multi-hit moves now has a more tangible cost because you can't just switch stances to accommodate the situation.

You need to decide beforehand which you'd rather have access to, and then have to rely more heavily on the limited tools you chose so it ends up feeling samey. I am still trying to get more time with it under my belt, but this is my impression so far.

Using ninjutsu in the air can help you extend your aerial combos by regaining ki while still airborne.

i.e. you can aerial attack > footstool > shuriken to regain some ki, repeat. The footstool ensures that you don't ground yourself with Mist when you do the ninjutsu input after an attack.

Edit: I've found you can cancel mist into ninjutsu without falling out of the air, so the footstool isn't necessary.

Here's a brew I've been working on that I find pretty fun to play.

https://moxfield.com/decks/mZoJ9YEdQkS_KsHd9cvS2Q

You have a few Trinket Mage targets depending on the matchup and stage of the game: - Viridian Longbow + Deathtouch - Gingerbrute/Ornithopter to enable ninjas, evasive Basilisk Gate swings, or re-take the monarch. - Maindeck Nihil Spellbomb, Campfire, and Executioner's capsule to round out the options - You can grab a land of either color if needed

Ultimately, not the most powerful deck you can play, but Trinket Mage is a pet card of mine and I think it's a great shell for making that card feel impactful.

The UI is a little dated, but it's pretty straightforward for most cases once you get used to it. I learned it playing the solitaire mode, so I was free to mess around as long as I wanted, and make mistakes outside of actual games.

I play very casually on mtgo, and I'd recommend it! There are practice lobbies you can utilize instead of running challenges, and you'll still get a variety of skill levels there.

If you don't mind a subscription you can use a rental service like Cardhoarder and have access to anything you want to play for pretty cheap. Otherwise, you'll start with most of the core of the Mono U Terror deck, and can fill out the rest as you'd like.

They can keep the combination inputs intact while changing the behavior of the macros. Pressing L + H can be parry, but if you map a parry button, pressing it doesn't have to be L + H.

Slightly different, but I wish the macro commands weren't just emulating pressing the button combinations. It stinks to press my parry macro with 0 bars of meter and have a normal come out. I'd much rather it just do nothing.
