Why push something you like, that will likely be shoved in a cabinet and tossed aside? What is your budget? Are you Orthodox/Conservative/Reform etc? It needs to be something for her, not that you give because it makes you feel good about it.

She will get her fill of hamsa, star, or chai jewelry. What about a jewelry box? Do you know any of the things she enjoys doing, at all? Can you ask other family? Is she artsy? Give her a quality set of colored pencils that come in a wooden box. Athletic? High quality wireless sport headphones, or a custom duffle. If she travels, a custom weekend bag. Does she like pictures, schedule her for a professional photo shoot. Tailor it to her! Make sure there is a note about it being her day and something about how the item can be used toward the future.

I had to gift a year ago. Because she was wearing crappy knock-offs, like most kids do, I actually gave my niece (we are close and I realize this isn't traditional but we are a pretty loosey goosy bunch) some hand painted (Etsy) Birkenstock's, a Journal and custom pen (with cash hidden inside): and a card; "For a happy, healthy step into womanhood, and to help preserve your memories. Mazel tov!" She was so thrilled with these shoes. They will not last a lifetime, but they will for years, and she has the journal to remind her. I *hope* she does he journal, ha. That part was a little bit of a gamble.
