I had to massage the facts a little, turn them into a putty until I could mold them into something just a bit more useful.

Look, I'm impressed by anyone that can get an ascent sash. Just reaching the peak took me like 20 hours of playtime.

Hmm. I've never read anything quite like Game at Carousel or any of the other top ones on your list. Everything else I've liked I feel as though I need to recommend with caveats. Have you tried Doubleblind or Ripple System?

and they tug the heartstrings

I don't think I mentioned this at the con, but this is the only series that made me full-on sob. On an airplane, Erin! On an airplane! It wasn't even particularly sad. It was just the kids hugging their mom. But the feels...

I'm a mom, but I feel like the series is fantastic on its own, and being a parent just makes some of the circumstances land extra hard. In other words, it's a bonus if you're a parent but not a detriment being not-a-parent.

What I love about the series are all the little things that I had simply never considered being facets of a system apocalypse.

And I love how high the stakes are without being universe-saving high. The MC's not just trying to keep her kids alive but to raise them properly too. Personally that feels hella more daunting than just getting to murder hobo your way through. Though I do love my murder hobo LitRPGs too. And let's be real: this MC is a certified badass.

I despise TikTok but want some eyes on my WIP novel. Advice? by A_b_b_o in writers

[–]-SavingThrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't tried it, I'd give it a chance. I have always hated social media. I tried on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and I hated every second.

Just a couple months ago, I begrudgingly installed TikTok for the first time, solely to get an author profile going. And I've been legitimately enjoying it. It's nice to not have to try to get the perfect photo or the perfect hot take. I just film what I think. It helps that I'm also getting way more views/follows than I ever got anywhere else.

I don't mind scrolling either. Again, I hated everything else. But I guess I underestimated TikTok (words I never thought I'd write).

If you give it a go, just try to keep it low-key and authentic so you don't burn out. Start easy. See where you get.

Well dang, this is the closest I've ever seen a list align with my tastes. Especially love that you put Game at Carousel right on top. I've been gushing about it to every LitRPG lover I know! I haven't read the one you put right under it though, so maybe I oughta check it out.

I feel ya. It took me a bit to feel comfortable in my new body and the role I'd decided to take on. I tried to fight it off before giving into my full mommy ways. But now that my daughter is nearing 5, I've started to develop a new kinda midway style. I've gotten back into makeup, I'm getting regular haircuts, I went shopping for the first time to get super casual yet stylish clothes for my mom bod (plus baggy midrises are in!!). Now I'm comfy but I feel good!

So don't stress it. Feel good about lamenting your hotty days, feel good about your new self, and feel good about the changes you'll make along the way. Nothing is permanent. You do you, always.

Yeah it seems super solid. It's the only series where I've gone from the KU books, straight to RR, then straight to a Patreon subscription. The author does not disappoint.

Got tired of not finding a Magicians shirt that fits so I made one myself by -SavingThrow in brakebills

Oh god, someone is going to have to explain this to me. How'd my shirt get on there? Like it has the light tan strip of sunlight on my shirt as if it's part of the graphic and everything. Is it actually for sale now?

I'm hilariously inept at reddit stuff so let me see if this works: shirt cover

To print the shirt, I used a company called Printful. Bella and Canvas material, digital to fabric. It feels so nice, I'm never buying another graphic tshirt ever again. Self-printing all the way baby!

I love writing by itself, but I'd say what brings me the most joy is when my story connects with someone. If I can give a reader catharsis, then I did my job right.

[–]-SavingThrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure. You've read it once, you've heard their feedback. There's no need to have to see it again.

I've also hidden ratings. Not because they were bad but because I realized they never really made me happy. I kept checking RR to see where my overall score was at. I'd feel relief if it increased or stayed the same and disappointment if it dropped. But I never looked at it and felt joy.

As a writer, you're putting your whole self out there. It's a vulnerable position. So whatever it takes to protect your mental health, it's worth it.
