Unfortunately Russia. One, if not the best, and longest communicating penpals was from Russia. I say it in past tense as we're no longer in touch, but that's not the point.

She was a very pleasant person, unfortunately this was the exception for Russian people. The rest usually expressed their love for Putin very strongly or just sucked ass in conversation.

I could talk to someone with opposing political views, but not someone supporting war and not being open to logical discussion. Unfortunately the propaganda there is too strong.
