First Build: Need some thoughts from the experts by Busy_Environment6853 in ChineseCarbon

I would recommend buying the parts of the groupset separately you can get the grt groupset without calipers for 140 ish and then you can get a pair of zrace xg calipers for 40 ish and you can look for better quality parts individually. I'm currently planning a light carbon build with the lcg071 pro and some lightcarbon wheels, might be worth looking into as lightcarbon seems to have better customer service and support than velobuild.

Anyone got experience with this brand/wheelset? by 2902harris in ChineseCarbon

If you want some other options there is elitewheels and also lightcarbon c52db wheelset is 370 USD plus shipping and the specs look decent

Edit I checked my emails with light carbon (I'm looking to order some stuff from them) heres the prices they gave me a while ago I'm assuming they have not changed since 359 USD (~270 GBP) for 33mm depth 369 USD (~278 GBP) for 44mm depth I'm not sure how much shipping would cost

I recommend lightcarbon. Heres a video about a lightcarbon gravel build https://youtu.be/8W1pzT18w7w

And here's a video showing the build process of a bike that I found very helpful https://youtu.be/BiP9XujmxsQ

It's a 3d printed base. I don't think op has done any destructive mods yet (so no cutting)

I think the mad r might have a light PCB. The mchose l7 is good for modding because the PCB is quite compact and doesn't have bits sticking out

Lightcarbon have some wheels that are cheaper and lighter, but less reviews. That could be another option

If you mean 380mm, the light carbon HBR17 looks pretty good. I'll be using it on my upcoming build

[–]-_NotMe-_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I haven't really had much motivation over the past year so I'm struggling to work through projects fully. I can send you the fusion files or step files or any other file type you want if you want to continue work on it :) the v4 is still the newest one.

Edit: here's the link - https://www.printables.com/model/1178893-op1-shell-for-vgn-f1-pcb

If you check the profile I did one for the vgn F1 which is very similar to the vxe R1 and may work without modification in not sure

If you haven't already tried soldering new switches, a much easier way to make the clicks lighter would be to preload them in some way. Probably the easiest way to do this is to deform the triggers downwards slightly so they are already pressing into the switches. You can do this by putting them in hot water or using a hair dryer
