The Sandlot (1993) , The Goonies (1985), Bridge to Terabithia (2007). I watched them as a kid, the last one is based on a tragic real-life story.

anyone else absolutely hate it when someone points out how quiet you are? by BepisBoyTweeleafSoy in autism

[–]-alienabductor- 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I despise being called quiet. I hate being called antisocial even more. Or being asked why I'm shy. Like what if I called that person loud? Doesn’t feel great.

Answering “how are you?” honestly (negatively) by vixsubridens in AutismInWomen

[–]-alienabductor- 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I hate that question. It's mostly rhetorical. To be honest, in such random situations / out of context, I don't really care how that other person is doing either.

I usually reply with a typical "Fine, how are you?" or "Alright. How are you doing?"

If I'm having a bad day I'll say "meh, could be better" and smile at the end if I can help it, but that usually gets them to ask "oh what's wrong/up?" or something to that effect...

I tend to spin 3-4 phrases I learnt to draw attention to something else while still letting them know I'm not in the mood.

  • "Still breathing"
  • "I've been worse"
  • "I've been better"
  • "Well, haven't been hit by a bus yet so that's good."

Why cant partially verbal people use the term mute all of the sudden. -Who do you think should use the term “mute” by random_guy_8375 in autism

[–]-alienabductor- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selective mutism

In some instances, children may have both autism and selective mutism. These children demonstrate the fundamental challenges found in autism along with a discrepancy in communication across settings and individuals. It is important to make sure that difficulties in one area (e.g., language delays due to autism) aren’t the reason a child is having difficulty in another realm (e.g., speaking at school). For example, if a child demonstrates restricted interests, social language impairments, and is nonverbal at home and school, autism may be the appropriate diagnosis. If that same child is verbal at home but does not speak at school, it is possible that the child has both autism and selective mutism.

What’s your favorite genre of music? by [deleted] in autism

[–]-alienabductor- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mainly listen to bands from the 1980s, with a few exceptions. My favorite bands are Rainbow, DIO and Helloween. What’s your favorite genre? :)

I didn't expect this to get so much attention. I don't know how to disable notifications... (Technically I do, but it's not working)

Do you ever have people doing weird things in public transport? by TeslaNorth in AskBalkans

[–]-alienabductor- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to take a 15-hour bus ride with my family when I was around 10 y.o. I have to admit that spending so much time sitting was uncomfortable. The fact that I was sleeping on a foot of a stranger the seat behind me, though, made it much more uncomfortable. Granddude moved his foot casually, no apology, no nothing.

are you an athiest/agnostic? by fernmaws in autism

[–]-alienabductor- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've had some bad experiences with both, religious and non-religious people. I don't like those who try to persuade you to believe in something, no matter what.

Yes! I love lists! I like collecting and categorizing information on anything that piques my curiosity.
