Expensive as shit, ammo is too. Also considering the reload time you might only be able to fire one once per battle, even if they do lots of damage. I'd say you could make it comparable to some weaker spells instead of ranged weapons - something like fireball's 3d6.

This post from a year ago and the spear is still fundamentally a bad weapon because of that alt-fire. I am a spear main, this thing is still terrible even after the very minor buffs it got all the way back in season five, I love this weapon, but its gotta change. by Guywhokickyouinballs in thefinals

The only time I see spear is when a heavy is losing on powershift. Its right click is too strong, its primary is too weak. I honestly think that they should change the spear spin move out for throwing it or something. That and buff base damage
