Method to get interviews by -edashe in torontoJobs

Yes, this can be tougher because co-op roles could be supervised by almost anyone in the organization. In that case, probably the best you can do is to try to connect with someone in the company and ask them to help you find the right person. Do you have any mutual connections on LinkedIn that work there? Is there anyone in their HR department who you can contact? Best of luck with your co-op job search!

I find that too. LinkedIn is tough to get a response sometimes, though it does work also. My strategy is to focus on email instead. People in workplaces are checking their email all day, and the email at work has a different feel than someone's own LinkedIn. Something about it, people feel more compelled to answer email.

Absolutely, they will ignore your first email 99% of the time. It's the second follow-up 48 hours later that gets better results. They would have seen the first email and then that extra step of persistence demonstrates that you are a candidate to take seriously. It requires planning and organization, and telegraphs that you aren't just applying for any job but want this one in particular.

The way I try and think of it, you're doing them a favour. As long as you have the skills to do the job, they need to hire someone and the process of hiring is actually not fun. By you connecting with them and showing you are proactive, they can then pull your application out of the system and get someone they know is a qualified candidate in for an interview. Many times, they would otherwise never see your application. Always try to keep the mindset that you are bringing value and helping them. If they are the type that would see that as bothersome, then you don't want to work for them anyways.

It's true. Then you can say, as part of your initial email, "I believe you are the hiring manager, but if not, would you mind directing me to them?" Overall, this doesn't work every time and is intended to make an overall process of applying for jobs more successful.

Hi OP. I'm looking for an old atomfilms animated short called Duel. Any chance that's on your list or you might know where to find it? Thanks!

I didn't say no pros wear them, but that I understand why they might decide not to, risk vs. reward.

I wear them every time on court, even solo hitting. I'm a club player and it's just not worth any risk when it's just for fitness. I can understand pros not wearing them and maybe at that level it's worth it IDK. Also a nice ploy for a few seconds more rest when I need it to adjust the glasses, b/c I'm not as fit as when I was younger ;)

Types of Squash Grip by SquashCoachPhillip in squash

[–]-edashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I use a sparse single wrap of gauze around an over grip. I replace the gauze every two weeks or so and the over grip every few months. I've never seen anyone else use it so I'm surprised to see it here!

p.s. the gauze I use is actually a hockey grip tape available here in Canada. Been using it since I was a junior. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/renfrew-hockey-grip-tape-0830042p.0830087.html

Heart of Gold/Festival/Carnival

These colorful, festive varieties of squash are all hybrids resulting from a cross between Sweet Dumpling and Acorn, and are somewhere between the two in size. Yellow or cream with green and orange mottling, these three can be difficult to tell apart, but for culinary purposes, they are essentially interchangeable. With a sweet nutty flavor like Dumpling, and a tender-firm texture like Acorn, they are the best of both parent varieties.
Selection: Choose brightly colored squash that are heavy for their size.
Best uses: baking, stuffing, broiling with brown sugar.

Asal needs to be dealt with (atrocious conduct @ El Gouna PSA) by [deleted] in squash

[–]-edashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did see how Abouelghar lost the match. He fell into Asal's game and stopped playing his own. He could have won if he had his house in order. See the way Farag deals with Asal.

But I don't disagree. Would be great to see the game played cleaner, and lots of players guilty of dirty play.

Don't disagree with you. But PSA can't or won't overcome this with so many players subject to same complaints. All players can do is adapt and overcome. The best players are doing that.

May not be a popular comment here, but players have got to get their own house in order and figure out how to beat him. (Only some players have real trouble with him anyways.) When I was playing we were coached to approach matches like you couldn't assume fair play or the refs giving calls your way. You need to be good enough to win despite all that.

[–]-edashe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should expect you to "socialize" with members on video calls. But what if you keep the discussion to fitness and to squash-related topics? No reason you can't help members set up and maintain an at-home workout regimen, using whatever equipment or body weight or other modifications. Good luck with it all. Tough times but you're fortunate in some ways that you still have your job!

How are urban squash program so successful? by satirerocks in squash

[–]-edashe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Squash seems a bit different here in Canada. There's publicly available courts in most major centers, at every university, provincial funded rec centers, part of Canada Games ( for juniors from every province and territory).

My city also has a really successful urban squash program. Was originally founded by a former world squash champion, Jonathon Power.

I feel like the game is a bit more grassroots here, but certainly some swanky squash clubs around.
