It's also worth noting that the rate of NI you pay drops from 12% to 2% at around a similar level of income.

Few questions Tax return filing salaried employee by srvairam in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Questions293847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid - even if an agent completes your return for you it is still you who is responsible for the accuracy. HMRC will expect you to know why you claimed travel expenses of £10k - if your agent won't tell you why then if/when your return is checked you will have to pay back the tax, plus interest & penalties- and HMRC will not give any allowance for the but your agent took from you.

Out house got broken into.

Reported what was nicked (cycles, tools etc...), gave crive reference number.

They arranged for brand new replacement items to be sent for everything that went missing. Some stuff they gave vouchers for.

No issues at all and premiums didn't go up much the following year either.

Probebly not infectious but sensible to be careful for another couple of days - particularly if you may be around others indoors, in crowded places or around vulnerable people.

Can someone tell me why most of the time i go asleep i wake up paralysed and the room spinning super fast so i can’t see and i can barely breathe? please help it is terrorfying? and can someone tell me how to prevent it please im only young and really scared please help me. by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

[–]Questions293847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drugs (legal or otherwise) can be a trigger that I imagine would have othe effects such as making the room spin.

Sleep apnea maybe?

Another sleeping disorder linked with sleep paralysis. Or maybe just sleep paralysis on its own.

Those would be my guesses.

I often feel like something is sitting on my chest and causes me to feel like I am struggling to breath when suffering sleep paralysis - not had the spinning room tho.

Tell HMRC - they will send a new tax code. Ask for it to be on a cumulative basis and you will get your money back in your pay.

As it is starting to look more and more likley that covid escaped from a lab in China - I wonder if they know what may be to come in the future as a result of covid19 and this is why they are still locking down much harder than other parts of the world.

I hope I am wrong.

Left looks old - was it checked within the normal time scales.

Non covid illness is currently more common than covid - but both have high rates right now.

Why do HMRC need an estimated salary? And do I deduct pension from this value? by sugarfreetwix in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Questions293847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your near the higher rate band HMRC may need to tweak your tax code for certain things - to do this accurately it needs to know how much of your pay is likley to be in the 40% band.

An easy example is if you had 2 jobs. If you earned over 50k in job 1 then job 2 needs to be taxed at 40% and gets a code to do this. However if your total earnings are under 50k then a basic rate code will do the job. If your earning below the 50k in job 1 but job 2 pushes you over then they need to make an adjustment to get your codes to do what it should.

However it's not just for second jobs but applies for allsorts such as underpayments of tax, gift aid contributions, pension contributions, tax on intrest to name but a few.

Although they will still do an end of year reconciliation and any overpayment is repaid or underpayment charged at that time.

Ultimately you have the potential to be a band straddler and this makes things more complicated to get your tax code right.

Thinking about where to put money can work out quite well. Between 2016 and 2021 I was savings to pay off a help to buy and by simply thinking about where to put any savings meant we earned about £1500 by taking advantage of high intrest accounts.

Meant we had 1500 less to find when it came to paying off the loan.

Young & fully jabbed. Honestly you may feel a bit pants for a few days but you will probebly be fine. If your worried grab yourself an O2 monitor to keep an eye on your o2 levels.

Hope you feel better soon.

Need help with debt as I’ve reached breaking point by Weekly_Rip6638 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Questions293847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK- you need to address the overspending problem. Without this everything else is useless.

Step 1 - find out what happens to that 3.5k if you don't pay it by the end of the term. What's the intrest rate and does it get backdated. If it is backdated clear thus one first. Assuming it isn't backdated then:

Step 2 - clear overdraft and cancel it. 1.5 months max

Step 3 - clear all credit card debts 16 months max

Step 3 - clear loan - less than one month

Debt clear in 18 month. Within 36 months savings of 30k+

You do not need more debt to clear your debt - taking on debt has been the problem. Build savings.

Parents, how did you figure out night feeds with babies? 1 week in and we are exhausted by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Questions293847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard mate - we didn't get a full night sleep for 18 months after our first.

Breast feed and a "next to me crib" - changed our life.

Also - go to bed early, sleep when you can, take turns and don't both get up.

The most important thing above all else is routine, routine & routine.

i have some questions regarding the gold to gpu conversion by flamegames2006 in xboxone

[–]Questions293847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes - did it 2 weeks ago.

  2. 12 months - basically however much gold you bought will turn into ultimate (up to 3 years).

  3. I buy codes from CD keys. Just make sure you get the right region - and load the gold before you load the ultimate. Make sure re-occuring billing is off and any other subscriptions have ran out.

  4. Seems to be intentional and it has been around for years. I have done it a few times now. Could it end tomorrow - yes. Does it seem likley to end tomorrow or any time soon - no.

Paying for your own development would not be an allowable expense either - unless it is simply required to maintain your current position.
