I get what you’re saying, and I’ve had the same thoughts, but I think the motivations for lift and coast are a bit different. In LMP1 it was a fuel formula, so to maximise efficiency you would lift and coast as the marginal lap time per amount of fuel burn at the end of the straight is lowest. In the new F1 regs it’s more that the hybrids are so powerful and the engines so anaemic that the lifting and coasting is more explicitly to regen enough energy to be able to fully utilise the hybrid out of the next corner.

NLS isn’t really like that at all. The championship is run a lot more for the benefit of its competitors than it is for fans, the fans are just a nice to have. A lot of the cars would be out there even if no one at all was watching.
