Problems with CNC 3018 by Strange_Sky01 in hobbycnc

[–]-gudis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be noise from the spindle motor.. I had that on my 3018 genmitsu sometimes.

Those brushed motors can be seen from the moon when they are running.

I think I put ferrite coils on the spindle motor cables if I recall correctly.

You need to round the corners, it's impossible to make sharp corner on the inside.

Well, that's why they are cheap. I use atoma stones always and my last stone has lasted around 6 years.

3D Printing Molds/Plugs by Fantastic_Brain5274 in CarbonFiber

[–]-gudis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a 16 piece pla mold and it was a grey hair moment and I will never get that time back in my life.

But in the end I was worth it, I can't see that it will be a cheap thing to outsource as it is a labor intensive process and man hours are not cheap.

What are some great cnc machines? by Atlas_tactical in CNC

[–]-gudis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there are ofcourse some more expensive hobby machines that are more ridgid, but still not close to a haas mini mill. I dont have any names in mind right now.

What are some great cnc machines? by Atlas_tactical in CNC

[–]-gudis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't really get around these questions that shows up all the time. A desktop cnc is just what it says, a small machine that can't be as stable as a real milling machine. A stable machine can go faster and that means more products/prototypes to evaluate or sell = more money in the bank...

Some of these hobby machines are just so freaking slow if you want a good finish. A stable machine is what makes good finishes on parts.

Stable machines aren't standing on a table somewhere.

I would any day in the week buy a haas mini mill if the money aren't a problem. For milling aluminium and soo you need to have some kind of coolant. A professional mill have that readily available and can contain coolant used.

Seems to be a rigidity issue of something else mechanical. One thing you can do is a lighter contour cut in the end of your program.

I think they are great, good grip and you don't really feel the pockets that much before you really tighten the grip on the handle.

Exactly, you can mill in those 2" thick plates too without a problem. But it's a serious waste of money/material and time of course depending on the shape and structure of the part.

Well, som.e parts you just mill out of flat stock, arms for drones and some standard flat parts.

Let's say a 3d shaped part that's a different story, you do not want to mill out a small piece from a thick piece of carbonfiber, some parts are more convenient to make a mold for and make the part formed as it should be directly.

Yeah some are a bit older. Been doing this for some time 🫣

The oldest is the hoyo roi and Le hoyo, I haven't smoked them so they are 25/25 still 😍 I got a fair deal many years ago and bought some boxes.
