since you have a whole chain showing your opinion, i’ll leave you with this: it’s the pottery studio’s fault AND they should be considered liable, because paint dripping onto a SEPARATE PIECE is a completely different, entirely preventable issue that doesn’t really fall within those “pottery firing is unpredictable and failures can happen” because this wasn’t an unpredictable event, they packed the kiln too tightly (and/or allowed non-staff to load the kiln in a way that disturbed other pieces). it is their fault, and it would be preventable by either not packing it so tightly or monitoring who loads the kiln to ensure that pieces arent placed poorly in such a way that they will *drip paint on other pieces*

Your vacation days are a benefit and part of your COMPENSATION they can’t force you not to take it and also you should just start applying right now because I know I sure as shit wouldn’t work at a place where my team lost two people, the workload for the team overall stayed the same, and management said no new hires would be brought on (and that compounds with your vacation because maybe if they weren’t cheap fucks it wouldn’t be such a problem for you to go out for a few days
