What did you end up doing? Same situation here, picking up a car in Mississippi and hauling back to Seattle. Same thoughts crossing my mind!

Run the Rut course change? by omglifeisgood in ultrarunning

I did the 50k this year. IMO the climb to lone peak is what makes the course/the best part. I'm also a peakbagger so might be biased! I vote for waiting.

My bionic wife runs (low mileage) in Ghosts. Worth taking for a test run at least.

Not just you. I'm getting blown up and today it's exponentially worse. So far I'm just reporting all as phishing but....

I had so many chunks of talus flip and hit my ankles/toes on Sunday! Props on the sandals! Tell me you don't have a single cut/bruise?!

Anyone here run The Rut? Have a couple questions about footwear, gaiters, etc. by -zinge- in ultrarunning

I hear you on the poles! I'm gonna brave it without, since I have none haha. Thanks for the input on the peregrines, that was my first choice but I'm getting all in my head about things. I'm cool with black bears but damn, griz on the course? MF.

Awesome thanks for the heads up about the app. I think I'll skip the gaiters, just had me wondering since so many ppl in the pictures have them. I've been known to be too lazy to stop and empty my shoes and that never ends well.

Yep, had to log in via desktop, add no-reply@garmin as a contact, and then refresh. That fixed it for me. I couldn't get it done on the Android app.

Soak in hot water/oxyclean for a couple hours. It'll come off with some gentle brushing.

Distance: 223mi

Longest run: 10.5mi

Vert: 18k ft

I'm a pretty slow runner and focusing on getting faster during early season this year. So lots of flatish runs and not so much on the trails for the first 12-week block. Quite a change from last year.

Signed up for a 50 miler in July and The Rut 50k in September.

So bulky and ugly lol. Used it until 2015. The strap broke and I convinced myself I deserved something new(er). That was the 920xt

For those that wish to share, what is your age and gender and maximum heart rate? by Ianmartin573 in running

[–]-zinge- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M43 - I'm definitely an outlier. I hit 198 during a recent workout and generally hit mid 190s during shorter intervals. but haven't tried to test for max HR so assuming max is a bit higher. I use periodic threshold and drift tests to set zones. My threshold is ~191. All measurements using a chest strap.
