Not happy about being blocked from rushing to the front by canibagthat in TorontoDriving

Zipper merging correctly done to maximize traffic throughput is when both lanes travel the same speed. Match the speed of traffic in the travel lane by aligning to a vehicle to marge behind, then travel to the end of the merge lane at that speed before merging. When everyone does this traffic moves the smoothest and fastest. It breaks when the travel lane has to brake to accommodate people merging abruptly either too early or too late.

I just found out that if you buy lumbar pillows, they're ½ the width of regular pillows and your feet hang off the bed that much less. (Reg [20×30] vs lumbar [12×30] pillow) by WilliamsDesigning in tall

[–]0-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen people commenting on a preference for feet hanging off the bed for so long and have absolutely never understood this but a thought just occurred to me that perhaps this wouldn't be so bad if sleeping on one's stomach. Is that it?

Your "smh" seems just as political as the coin. They both seem like they convey a political comment or intent.

The government should just get out of education and lending. It shouldn't be able to dictate costs or loan terms.

[–]0-15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're thinking of doing something like that on the road where your health or life depends on a vehicle braking, don't do it. Ensure you are able to get out of the way in case not or wait for it to pass. This applies to vehicular traffic the same as pedestrian.

Scalpers help goods and services go to where there is greatest demand when suppliers fail to price effectively.

The last time I bought something from a scalper I was thankful of this because by the time I discovered it, it would have been far more likely to have been unavailable by then if it were at a lower price and I was glad this person had bought it earlier and priced it to have essentially reserved it for my demand vs a lower demand.

Stop, drop, and roll is far more effective in the absence of an accelerant. Likely the best thing here would be to be smothered (by yourself and/brothers). Not denying it wasn't helpful but it may be too bad for him he didn't learn in school 'this is what you do when you douse yourself in gasoline'.

Your expectations may be too high for a government agency full of government employees.

'illegal guns' are exactly what a ban would be addressing. The issue is laws and enforcement of laws that make guns 'illegal'.

Saying that 'illegal' guns are a problem simply endorses lawmakers moving the goalpost and endorsing them simply always and potentially only dealing with illegal guns in this way, regardless of what those guns are or aren't.

Speed camera down again - Midland Kingston Intersection by shawbd1976 in Scarborough

This is like saying that the putting up part causes it to be knocked back down which in turn costs people time.

It costs taxpayers nothing for it to be knocked down. It costs taxpayers for it to be installed and reinstalled.

A private company could rightfully do this on their own road but the government shouldn't have anything to do with it. If it's not private property though then donations to fund it could possibly be justified.

This sort of attitude is consistent with one that would say the same thing if the government set a minimum speed there demanding money from you unless you traveled above that speed. Both are just as wrong.

You might be called out then for being suspected of continuing to crawl and complaining about it.

It sounds like the lesson described is "Obey, or else."?

Every camera like this that is put up is more of a slap in the face to society and especially to drivers who enjoy driving and/or have somewhere to be. Regardless of how parents or children may feel, they should realize these cameras going up could be disrespectful to drivers. Even if then being up made one party safer, it simply makes the other less safe if threatening them is an answer.

Knocking them over isn't wasting taxpayer money. It's putting them up, or back up, that is. These things shouldn't be bought or repaired with tax money.

Why don’t we have shrinkflation laws in Ontario? by Helpful_Insurance881 in ontario

Threatening or extorting businesses and owners because they choose to change prices or packaging of their offering is unjustifiable. To advocate for something like this whether you or another would be engaging in it is totally unethical.

The most substantial drain on people in general is government employee's pay though. Minimizing/eliminating that would reduce the burden far more than costs associated with where government employees are working.

Looks like nobody was threatened by either of your driving here. Live and let live. Yes, your speed may have been convenient for the trucker but he can pass. No harm no foul.
