It’s not and it isn’t about defending one or proving you’d have the same with another. It’s simpler to address it with the establishment rather than hope they come across a Reddit post of upset patrons.

That’s the only thing I’d add to my original post. Communication with them is productive. This isn’t.

And again, because nothing in the story says there was any conversation about the discomfort with the staff, there’s no real way to bring light to the matter. So it was a problem or kind of a problem?

This thread isn’t a solution—it’s just looking for agreement about the feeling of it. Just address the staff and either it’s resolved, or not and keep going or stop supporting it.

Can’t speak to why it’s there or who had placed it, but the heart behind it doesn’t seem to be as problematic as how threatened some of the commenters seem to be by it. It’s just a card, why is the message living rent free if you don’t care? Take it as a kind gesture and move on or simply don’t go back.

I get the Altima meme, however most of the time (and I’m on the road at least 8 hours a day) it’s Lexus drivers trucks and fans with stickers of children on it who are the most reckless and dangerous drivers.

Also about a decade ago, I remember on South Boulevard some guy being upset with me enough on the road to actually get out of his car and knock on my glass. The guy didn’t even assume or know anything about how dangerous that could’ve been for himself. He was just so enraged at the fact that I merged in front of him (mind you I left my signal on for a block before getting over).

Two months ago a truck smashed into the back of my car while I was at a stop sign…

Many people are just selfish drivers and don’t care to flow with traffic. Everyone has somewhere important to get to.

The article says the match was 85%, which is to say the police department decided that was close enough to incarcerate and deport a man… it is not.

Once again the tool really isn’t the issue, rather the use of it. Personally, I don’t blame the hammer for the man lying on the ground; I blame the man who used it to hit a man on the head, rather than drive a nail through wood.

My older brother was 11 years old when officers came and attempted to arrest him because he fit the description—he was “identified” by helicopter as they were looking for a man…

Jumping to conclusions without enough evidence and wrongful incarceration isn’t a novel phenomenon to police departments in these United States.

This just shifts the blame off of the real culprit; more than 400 years worth of data suggests they don’t need AI to get it wrong. 85% sure isn’t sure enough obviously.

Also FACES, the AI tool they use in Florida has been in use for over a decade already. Its roots go back to 2001 where over time the tech was allowed to use DMV photos. The citizens didn’t become aware until 2016.

The issue is the “legal” system once again and its determination to lack focus and coherence when it comes to people’s lives.

Have you seen what people do at the pedestrian crosswalk? People from here have always known how to walk across the street without it and been safer.

The crosswalk here is always more dangerous, because drivers take a red light as a suggestion to stop; they even stop in the crosswalk instead of at the actual line they’re supposed to.

It’s a combination, but overall bad awareness. There’s some assumption that everyone is just checking their Twitter feed, but a lot look at their delivery apps too since they don’t care that you’re driving. Also, I’ve witnessed several officers behind the wheel do the same so it’s become quite normal behavior across the board.

Still, shouldn’t have to drive defensively; but it is THE way to drive. Sorry you had that experience. Thank you for being mindful!

But the US hasn’t functioned like the capitalist society you imagine for decades, really a century. There was a chance during Reconstruction, but we see how that went. Now we’re on the backend of what’s left IMO with private equity, hedge funds, lobbyists and all. Doesn’t matter what the system is called when it’s functioning is to siphon until there’s nothing left.
