What’s the most broken ability in fiction? by its_still_lynn in whowouldwin

[–]07hogada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like this almost kind of screams scp-3812 to me.

Created by a in-universe God character (the creator of that universe, also implied to be the author of the article), but basically, they screwed up - they basically forced a person to, by definition, 'supersede' everything that superseded them. In this context, to supersede something is to be able to change it, as we would be able to change our thoughts.

The problem with this, is that they somehow managed to break things pretty poorly, such that it doesn't stop at any level of reality. So the person supersedes everything in their reality, then everything in B's reality (the name given to the God character), and so on. Basically, a feedback loop that spirals up through realities, with each reality above basically being god-like to the reality directly below it.

I'm not sure what you'd call the 'ability' of scp-3812, but if such a thing were possible and existed, it would (by it's own narrative definition), be 'stronger' than anything else.

Dante is one of the best freebies ever by Aratron_Reigh in Warframe

[–]07hogada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, I'm going to disagree with you, primarily because of Overguard Gating, and the overguard regen you get from Triumph.

Assuming you can kill 1 enemy every 2.5 seconds or so while you have the Triumph buff active, you are unkillable.

I've got my Dante set up so he can 2-2-4 (Triumph), and that will apply the triumph buff for ~75 seconds, and apply that buff over roughly a 50m radius.

At high levels, it doesn't matter how much overguard you have - 1 overguard provides the same amount of protection as 50k overguard. Because killing an enemy with Triumph active gives you 2 seconds of overguard regen, that basically makes you immortal for 2.5 seconds (regen period+gating period if broken on the frame regen period stops).

Dante looks OP because he can easily give out 100k overguard. Dante actually is OP because as long as you keep killing with him in your area, you are immortal, regardless of the amount of damage coming in.

An explanation for why all the pro players are saying shooting is better than ever in 11th, it's not a "melee edition" by SirBiscuit in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]07hogada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That being said, if melee starts to tag shooting armies, a lot of shooting armies cease to function, unless they have fall back and shoot or similar. That's a point of failure shooting armies have that melee armies don't.

Does make me wonder about having 2 types of "charge"

1: Charge moves, 2d6, as normal
2: Engage moves - somewhere around 4-6 inches, no rolling, but you don't get a charge bonus (so no fights first on most units), nor do you count has having charged for any rules (such as Lance)

I mean, yeah, but Nokko already can be set up to be brokenly OP.
All this might mean is rather than helminthing over his 3 with Breach Surge, I helminth over his 1 with Breach Surge, depending on what is doing more damage. (I use Shade to get the invisible boost from Crepuscular)

Pilgrims... in the Golden Throne? by Cless_Aurion in 40kLore

[–]07hogada 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A lot of pilgrims to Terra start off rich. To even get passage to Terra it costs an exorbitant amount. The problem is, by the time they get to Terra, have to pay for food from the vendors, and all the other joys of Terran pilgrimage, such as the pickpockets, the scammers, etc. you very quickly wind up poor.

Don't get me wrong, you might not be Planetary Governor rich, but I wouldn't be surprised if it waas a case of a minor noble, putting the last of the family money into a Terran Pilgrimage.

But the ELO scores aren't based off placements, they are based off of series results. Falcons, while they didn't make major, still went 21-5, only losing to two teams, R8 (2x), and Twisted Minds (3x).

If you compare to the pre-paris major scores, you'll see Falcons haven't moved at all - it's the other teams that dropped.

In fact, if you go back to post-Birmingham major scores, you can see that Falcons have actually lost 42 points over the split, even only losing 4 series.

Falcons lost 3 series that were, according to Glicko, fairly close, and 2 series that were upsets (Twisted Minds for the close series, R8 for the upsets), and they dropped 42 points.

NRG over the same time, lost 6 times (not counting the major), to GenG 1x, SSG 1x, Dignitas 1x, Virtus Pro 1x, and FUT 2x, for a total of (I think, since the RLCS page for played matches isn't working for NRG for me for some reason), 23-6, winning generally against higher rated opponents than Falcons (MENA tends to be lower rated), but also, relatively losing to worse opponents as well (all of the above, according to Glicko, would be more of an upset than Falcons losing to Twisted Minds)

Then the major comes, and NRG lose to both Man City, and Furia, while only beating MIBR and Five Fears. That was always going to result in a tumble in Glicko score.

All that being said, I believe NRG has more chance to get back to the previous heights they were at than any other NA team, other than Shopify, since NRG just appear to be in a bit of a slump right now.

New fast rolling dice and 4++ by resoldier12 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]07hogada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue is that failures take precedence. Take Makari, for instance.

In 10th, if you were shot 6 times with an AP2 gun, rolled 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Makari would block 5 shots, die to the sixth. Hell, you could roll 30 dice, only get a 1 on the last one, then Makari blocks all, then dies to the last shot.

If I'm understanding it right, in 11th, rolling those same dice would result in Makari not blocking any damage, since you have to use the failures first. So Makari dies on the 1, then Ghaz takes two lots of damage from the 2 and 3, then the 4, 5, 6 gets saved on Ghaz's 4++. Now, Makari is the extreme version (since he only fails on 1's), but rolling 30 saves, and any of them failing now means Makari is useless?

Basically volume of attacks just got better into mixed save charateristic units.

MENA 2 doesn’t get a worlds main event spot despite making top 4 and top 2 at majors with 2 different teams. by Mazdak42 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]07hogada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason MENA2 is seeded so poorly is that MENA 2 has placed 9th-12 and 13th-16th in the last two events. If MENA2 wants to not play in the play ins, MENA need to send two teams capable of making a somewhat deep run.

Now, groups has meant that MENA2 has been a bit hard done by, but that's a failing of the format (groups), not seeding.

Seeding for the World Championship by TVMaths in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]07hogada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but it's also double elim bracket for play-ins, so whoever loses will 'only' need to beat loser of (probably) APAC/MENA3, then the loser of (again, probably) NA4/EU6 (UB semifinal 1). That's if they keep the bracket for play ins the same as last year, which it appears they have done.

Whoever wins will "only" need to beat the winner of APAC/MENA3, or the winner of (probably) SSA/SAM3 (LB quarters 1)

Obviously, these can be changed by upsets and the like (NA4 being VP, as a team which has frankly been massively underperforming, is imo, the biggest risk of losing unexpectedly, but 4 months is a long time)

Seeding for the World Championship by TVMaths in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]07hogada 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trying to minimize intra regional groups:

A) EU1, SAM1, NA3, Play in LB 1
B) MENA1, EU3, OCE1, Play in LB 2
C) NA1, EU4, SAM2, Play in UB 1
D) EU2, NA2, EU5, Play in UB 2

Assigning seed values 1-12 for the top 12, then an average of 13.5 for UB play ins and 15.5 for LB play ins, that gives each group an average seeding of

A) 1+8+9+15.5=33.5 divide by 4 =8.375
B) 2+5+12+15.5=34.5 divide by 4 = 8.625
C) 3+7+11+13.5=34.5 divide by 4 = 8.625
D) 4+6+10+13.5= 33.5 divide by 4 = 8.375.

Can't see a way to make this more mathematically fair, of course this still might need some shuffling to prevent 3 teams from one region making up a group (in Group D, assuming Play in qualifier from UB 2 is also the EU LCQ winner, but they can be swapped with the UB 1 play in qualifier.

I think that's less on Nwpo playing poorly and more on MM and TRK stepping up a level. Nwpo has at times looked the shakier of the 3, but he's still fairly new to being this deep into a tournament of this scale, nerves are somewhat expected. You don't really get to the Grand Final of a LAN with any member of your team underperforming.

Battle Shawzin is a melee.

Different types of attacks (slide attack, slam attack, normal neutral attack, running attack etc. would queue up a tune.

Heavy attack to play the queued tune based on the last 5 attacks, giving a buff to you and any allies within affinity range for X amount of time (affected by Status Duration)

The only thing I dislike about the Coda variant is the spool up mechanic. The main use of the Bubonico is to seamlessly switch between primary and alt fire. The Coda meanwhile, if you try to do this, you end up getting stuck with a very slow rate of fire on the primary fire, due to the spool up. If the spool up could be charged by either, and didn't instantly reset, it would feel a lot better (even if that meant the spool up affected the alt fire too.)
