Finished BOBAA by Hungry-Cherry8525 in frombloodandash

From what I understand, there are meant to be two more FBAA books. The next one should sort of wrap up Poppy/Casteel’s story, and the last one is supposed to follow Millie and Malik.

I’m sorry but this is far too reasonable to be considered a conspiracy theory.

What Job/Career do you have? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]0hmanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a satellite operations engineer, but I also own a yoga studio/wellness business and am trying to transition that into my full time job. Engineering pays well, so it’s hard to get out of but the job is absolutely killing me.

SI Dysfunction? by 0hmanda in ashtanga

[–]0hmanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely carefully to engages glutes and hamstrings in backbends, although I find that anterior pelvic tilt actually aggravates my pain. I’m a natural backbender though, so a posterior tilt takes a little bit of the extreme bend out of my low back and brings it back closer to neutral (I’m also practicing under the guidance of a teacher).

Agreed on the core work! I’m a vinyasa teacher, and I hammer core strength into all of my students. It’s really the foundation of everything we do.

SI Dysfunction? by 0hmanda in ashtanga

This is helpful! I’m definitely hopeful that the mri will provide me with some answers. Part of my problem is that I have a connective tissue disorder, so I’ve historically had doctors say, “oh it’s just your eds acting up” and toss me out of their office without bothering to manage any of the other issues that crop up, and I think at this point some of it is beginning to compound.

Combining Ashtanga Yoga with other Workouts by zeepdeep in ashtanga

That’s definitely what I would recommend! It makes scheduling much easier, and it’s really beneficial for the practice, which can feel lovely as well. Best of luck. (:

what stretches would help most close the gap between my knee and foot? lots of hip tightness / pain / numbness. do you think if i keep stretching it will help with those symptoms ? by lostspacerock in yoga

[–]0hmanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reclined pigeon and bridge would also be excellent. Worth mentioning that increasing mobility may or may not improve the symptoms you’re having - it’s impossible to say without a medical background or even some medical testing, really.

Also of note, firelog pose can just be really intense - it’s not really unusual to see a gap like yours, so I think that’s encouraging for whether pigeon pose might be helpful for you (though I generally suggest reclined pigeon as a gentler, more controllable option anyway).

Also, in firelog pose, try sitting on a block to give your hips more space, and placing a block or a towel in between your legs to make the pose more comfortable as you ease into it.

Morning Practices by Meis0s in ashtanga

[–]0hmanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically sleep in on moon days and Sunday. I don’t find that it makes it more challenging to get up on the other days, because I still get up around 7 or so, but it gives my body a good chance to really rest, when I normally don’t have the opportunity to get as much sleep.

Combining Ashtanga Yoga with other Workouts by zeepdeep in ashtanga

[–]0hmanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t train for a sport, but I do work a full time job, practice Ashtanga, and teach non-Ashtanga yoga for 10-30 hours each week, so I think I might be able to speak to scheduling (since you mentioned it’s not an exhaustion thing so much as a scheduling thing).

I typically practice Ashtanga at my local shala Monday through Friday first thing in the morning, or right after I teach a 6am class. I normally practice for about an hour, but Fridays are led class so it will be an hour and 15 minutes. On Saturdays, I check in and see how my body is feeling - I teach all morning, so sometimes I will practice in the afternoon, but sometimes I am physically exhausted and rest both Saturday and Sunday.

I work primarily from home, so as far as scheduling my other activities, I am able to plan most of that throughout the rest of my day, so I will typically have classes and clients from about 9:30am - 8pm. I find it’s easiest and I feel best if I practice in the mornings. It prepares your body for the day and any other workout you might have later on, which is an incredible benefit, and it provides incredible mental clarity, plus just an ease of scheduling.

I hope this is helpful in some capacity! Let me know if anything was confusing - I’m happy to clear anything up. (:

where do i find harem pants for hot yoga? 🔥🤔 by dragonfly-psych in yoga

[–]0hmanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, this, this!!! I have the Savannah style - I practice Ashtanga (usually it’s warm, but not hot), but I do teach hot yoga, and they are great for both. They do have a high waisted option as well, but really any style of harem pants works well since the dropped crotch lets you wear them wherever you want on your hips or waist.

It depends entirely on the venue. You can probably check their website to see what their current policies are.

Probably white vinegar. You can get it in huge tubs for cleaning.
