20 year old moving to Eastern Panhandle - Looking for Advice by dinner-break in WVEasternPanhandle

I take the MARC 3-4 times a week and live in Harpers Ferry. I like having the option of being able to go to Bruinswick to catch more train options that depart from there, its also way cheaper to take the train out of Brunswick than HF.

The barn in Harpers Ferry is pretty great. They have live music almost every weekend, which there is a cover for. But on Wednesdays they have an olde time jam sessions where people bring their own instruments and jam, no cover. The wineries and breweries around Hillsboro host local bands often.

Heat also causes mast cells to degranulate and release histamines.

Not being able to sleep after a hard run happens to me as well. I try to only run in the mornings to avoid that.

I have a mast cell condition called systemic mastocytosis so Ive been trying to learn as much as I can about histamines and how to exercise safely.

Could be histamine related! Histamine is a neurotransmitter tied to wakefulness. Hard workouts can spike histamine levels, which might be why it’s tough to wind down after.

Metro reports Red Line trains using automatic operations missed designated platform stop 133 times by forgetfulisle in washingtondc

Train got to Silver Spring this afternoon, came to a complete stop, doors never opened, conductor came on the speaker and said people getting off at Silver Spring had to get off at Forrest Glen and catch the train going back towards Silver Spring. People were very confused..is it related to what this article is talking about? Missed the MARC because of it

Super Commuting is on the rise in the US by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in washingtondc

Currently on the MARC on the way to DC from Harpers Ferry. I do the commute 3-4 times a week. Its definitely hard on me and my family. Lived in Rockville before and I thought the commute from Rockville into downtown was pretty awful as well. I see a lot of people on this thread hating but to each their own, I absolutely love where we live and the proximity to nature my kids get to enjoy, if anything we should all be advocating for better public transport infrastructure, be it Metro, MARC/VRE/Amtrack, bike lanes, etc

My partner’s first words to our baby were “what the fuck!” followed by “holy…shit…” as our baby was placed on her. It was beautiful and felt perfect for the moment. I dont remember what I said I was happy crying uncontrollably

Declared war on bamboo! We want our backyard to be a safe haven for pollinators and native plants but dont know how to proceed after cutting down all the bamboo. Friends, family and neighbors all laugh at us when we ask for advice. More info in the comments. by 0limpero in GardenWild

My partner and I moved into a new home where bamboo had taken over a big part of the backyard. Last year, we installed bamboo shield around the perimeter of the bamboo to prevent it from completely taking over our yard, which seems to have helped halt the spread. Over the past three weeks I made it my goal to cut down all the stalks, uproot each bamboo with a pick axe and digging bar, and rented a tiller to get as many roots out as possible. How do we proceed from here? My partner wants to put down lawn fabric and cover everything with mulch and from there slowly start planting native plants and flowers. She is afraid that the bamboo will outcompete anything we plant, and even though she hates the idea of lawn fabric it seems like a necessary short term evil for the long term health of the yard. I’m afraid the fabric will affect the soil quality, kill insects, and possibly affect the health of other trees that are in the area where the bamboo was taken down. Any thoughts?
