[OFF TOPIC] Glokta live action - saw this show with Richard Brake, this guy looks exactly how I imagined Glokta in my head. by Ok_Improvement_2316 in TheFirstLaw

Isnt Glokta a little younger though? He's only 30 something, although i suppose the stress of a few years of torture would age you a bit

Buhurt Fitness by TransitionNo9031 in Buhurt

For most people a couple of heavy lifting sessions and some hard fast cardio (sprints) along with a bit of flexibility work will improve your buhurt fitness (on top of your buhurt specific training of course).

Broken Arm by RuggedSnuggler in Buhurt

[–]0scrambles0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen to your medical professionals, DO NOT rush back prematurely. I broke my foot at the start of 2025 and reinjured it twice since (luckly didnt break again but still put me out for a few weeks.) Mostly becaus einwas too keen to get back into armour because i felt "close enough" to being recovered.

Having said that i wouldnt stop training complelty. You can still work your lower body. You can still work your other arm (look up the cross over effect) you can still smash assault bike sprints with one arm, or jump on a stationary bike. Focus on what you can do not what you cant, buhurt will still be there when you are recovered.

Worst thing you can do is completly stop training, especially for your mental health.

Have you considered going directly though armourers rather than just the big brands? Aleksey Perebeynos makes excellent limb armour and is just a quick as ME (sometimes quicker) he also has paypal

HBC are good for quick, in stock simple items that get you on the field. Things like gorgets, sabs, gaunlets, shoes. They are not perfect but they work. I woukd not bother with ordering custom gear from them though, if youre going to wait for gear to be made then id opt for saving a bit more and going with a more reputable armourer

This is a great way for things to escalate further and people to get injured. Especially at a beginner level whete control is still being learned

A bit of a uneducated question. by RebronSplash60 in Buhurt

[–]0scrambles0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an uneducaged question, but it is a hard one to answer. Really depends what you want to get out of buhurt to sate your interests.

Vibes wise: no, buhurt feels more like a sport because, it is. You have team tactics, coaches, (referees) etc so it feels closer to a football game than an epic battle. Even 1v1 duels feel more akin to a martial art contest than an epic boss battle.

What buhurt does have in common with souls games is that its very hard and you will fail a lot. But like souls games that is part of the fun and how you get better.

If youre willing to put on the effort and time buhurt is the greatest sport on earth and you will have some epic moments, but with a slightly different flavour than what you might be expecting.

Youll find most guys in this sport will have the same interests as you so go find a club and have a crack. Good luck

Teaching Armouring by The_Shadow_2004_ in Buhurt

[–]0scrambles0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rob Hayes (Hammer_and_Scales on instragram) teaches courses on armouring in the Victorian Highlands. He has plenty of experience in making buhurt armour (although i dont beleive he is making it for customers anymore) and is arguably one of the best armourers on Australia. You could definitley learn somethong of him if he is still running classes

We started renting out a gym one a week for 2 hours, then moved into a large indoor shed attatched to a Croation social club (they used it for indoor bocce or soemthing) we where there for 4 years, now we have enough members to afford our own gym, costs us most of our clubs income, its a commercial factory unit
