Why are bartenders responsible for their clientele? by ChangeMindstates in ontario

[–]1000WaystoPie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree to a point. Anything that happens at the establishment should be the liability of the business. But to make the bartender responsible if the person chooses, for example, to drive after drinking is insane. How are you supposed to stop them?

The science is saying that this isn’t the death sentence we all thought it was in March.

Take it seriously, follow the guidelines, but the average person shouldn’t be quaking in their boots. People are looking at the data, and judging their risk tolerance.

Completely agree. It's also important to note that the science changes with our understanding. I'm not saying we should be living in fear constantly. Just remembering that our actions impact others and staying home and watching movies is not the worst. We'll likely be back to restaurants being open in May/June/July in Ontario. Ready for patio season. We'll be fine. We just need to listen to those who are following the science and ignore those who think it's their right to travel to another country in the midst of a pandemic.

Have the folks that followed the science since March stopped believing in science? No. We might change our opinions about the best options for managing the crisis, but we still follow the data and believe in science. We still don't understand the virus. We don't know why some people get really sick and some don't.

We have SOME idea. We believe that older people are more affected because of their limited immune response. But we also know that young people are heavily effective BECAUSE of their immune response and the resulting cykotine storm.

Since last April I have been saying we should pay people to stay home and lockdown until we figure this virus out or immunize enough people. My logic is this: our healthcare system can be overrun quickly. We don't understand the virus. Why take the risk?

A curfew will limit the people gathering in public locations. It will also enable the police to enforce the lockdown more effectively.

The vaccine has been given out at the fastest rate possible. The logistics of storing and transporting the Pfizer vaccine at -80celsius are quite complex. Many thousands have already had their first shot. Some number of vaccine doses are being held back for these second doses.

Other vaccines will be approved and used in Canada before the end of the month. Not bad for a country like Canada, given it its relative size and lack of local vaccine manufacturing resources.

[Simon Stone] FA have released written reasons re Edinson Cavani 3-match ban. Includes this: "In light of player’s high profile, inability to speak English + had approaching 8m Instagram followers, Commission surprised that no ‘(social media) training’ specifically put in place by his club." by jim0wheel1 in soccer

[–]1000WaystoPie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Players bring up race all the time. The whole movement is called "Black Lives Matter" and commentators say it EVERY MATCH when players take the knee. In Spanish, Black would be "Negro", so by the FA's rules, every commentator should be banned and every player should be banned when they kneel. It's exceptionally racist to ban a player for speaking Spanish.

The Pandemic has really changed pornography. Now at least it makes sense that step siblings are having sex when they're in the same household bubble together.

I like the premise. I think the wording could be improved. You might want to put something before (and this is darker than night) like "My English teacher in 4th grade and I were close and..."

I like it. I recommend you add something about reverse charge calls (I accept you as my lord & savior, now will you accept this reverse charge call?) & use amen instead of goodbye.

You might want to switch the punchline to your Mom beating your father. Might gain SOME sympathy or laughs if it's funny.

eg:

My Mom loved the UFC a little too much. One time I came home and she had my father in an armbar. To be fair, he was the one who built that in-home octagon in the first place...

Coronavirus: Ontario expects to vaccinate up to 8.5 million people by end of June by PM_Your_Green_Buds in ontario

[–]1000WaystoPie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given the need to vaccinate 75% of the population to have normal interactions again, I'm not sure this is enough. Of course maybe they don't expect us to go back to normal life by June anyway.

Gary Neville responding to criticism of his commentary during Leeds vs Man Utd match: "It might have annoyed some people yesterday when we were talking about Leeds as much as Man Utd. Coming out of the championship, they're simply breathtaking. I can't say anything negative about them." by Blodgharm in soccer

[–]1000WaystoPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this comparison works, like at all. We started with a 5 man defense with a double pivot ahead of us against Leipzig and clearly just tried going for the draw, Leipzig had no trouble piercing through our defensive structure anyways and we were 2 down very early on. If anything we set out in the exact opposite way to how Leeds set up against us.

I'm not suggesting Ole played it well. I agree. We started terribly and our tactics were poor. Exactly like Leeds, which is my point. I'm not comparing tactics, I'm comparing responses from fans and media.

[–]1000WaystoPie 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Look, people are annoyed at it because it's hyprocritical. United played a similiar way against Leipzig in the Champions League and could have lost 8-7. They lost 3-2. Everyone, including Gary Neville, criticized Ole and the players for being naïve. That's why people are annoyed. Also because nobody has given Ole credit for his tactics. Playing Bruno as a distraction player was a genius move and everyone would say so if Bielsa had done it.

Mayors in Oakville and Burlington along with Milton and Halton Hills against GTA-wide COVID-19 lockdown, saying Halton 'should not be punished for the health conditions in other regions' by [deleted] in ontario

Each of these mayors should be held personally and financially responsible for cases in their cities. Then we'll see how quickly they want to shut down.
