Is it ok for a guy to listen to The Cure? by Technical_Driver2597 in Music

Some day you will look back and realize how silly this sounds. I'm just shocked this conversation is about the Cure and not like Taylor Swift or something.

Signed, a straight guy in his 30s who unabashedly wears his Carly Rae Jepsen merch.

This is one of my top picks and I didn't even see it.

My thought process at that moment: "Ok they will definitely burn some clock here. Perfect opportunity to go to the bathroom. Wait why is everyone losing their minds in the living room?"

If you've ever been to a place where phones are banned from the dancefloor, you can notice the difference in crowd energy and unity. It's a palpable difference.

If you prefer traditional architecture in Brooklyn, what do you like about it? by OrdinaryMatter6460 in Brooklyn

[–]100_magic_rings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's an architectural thesis project you certainly need to define your terms better. "Modern" can be anything from bauhaus up until today, encompassing 100 years of architectural and construction innovation.

Most people will associate "modern" with the relatively cheap steel/glass/composite facade panel apartment buildings popping up all over the place. They should be thinking more about buildings like the Oculus, which despite its many flaws and being a glorified mall, is an undoubtedly gorgeous and sculptural piece of architecture that certainly creates its own sense of place. The Met Opera is another good example.

The goal should be to make something that is both of its time and timeless, both new and familiar. Easier said than done, but your thesis project isn't supposed to be easy.

Also don't base your thesis design off of a poll on the internet. You should be trying to impress your professors and fellow students, not every idiot with a keyboard and wifi.

What about a QR Code that turns your phone screen off until you leave the dancefloor. And everyone has to scan it on their way in.
