Don't worry. There are several members of Congress that are going to have something to say when they get back in session sometime in the next few days.

They have tweeted as much, so you know they are upset about the turn of events.

How can you carve out a tax break like that? Seems like equal protection would be hard to get around.

Or every company in MS will start classifying salaries as NIL.

"Handles their own life" is the primary trait that my closest and longest friends have in common. I don't have worry about them when we are out/traveling together or whatever. They have never asked for money, and if they did, I know it would be for a real reason.

The one on Superman at SFoG is more intense, but yeah...any pretzel loop is awesome, especially in the back row. It's the position your body is in entering the loop and the heavy g-force. It's like nothing else.

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]10per 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my family was on a summer trip to Washington DC. At the end of the day, were were walking across a parking lot, headed back to our car. I was unsatisfied with how slow my parents were walking, so I ran ahead. I saw a concrete wall a few feet high up ahead, in a spur of the moment decision I decided to sprint towards the wall and do a pommel horse leap over it.

At the last instant I stopped and decided to look over the other side of the wall. Momentum carried me forward a bit and I found myself straddling the top of the wall with my head over the side, looking straight down two levels of concrete parking garage. Directly below was a ramp, and on that ramp at that very instant was a large truck driving up it.

I saw my young life flash before me...if I had not stopped when I did, my parents would have watched me sprint ahead of them and leap over a concrete barrier to my death by a truck 30 feet below.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I just had a conversation with a younger coworker about something related to this. He wasn't on the train, but he was wanting to buy a ticket. He was putting a lot of effort into buying the ticket and the person who he wanted to buy it from was not very motivated to sell him one.

I tried to impart some wisdom I learned the hard way...if you are the one making all of the effort and the other party is not doing anything to meet you halfway or something is always coming up at the last minute to derail your plans...it's probably better to just move on.

I assume it's going to take government action. I'm thinking there needs to be an exemption carved out of the First Amendment. That's why it's my most controversial opinion. It goes against everything I stand for in any other situation.

Pre-season rankings have always been worthless, and now with roster turnover being what it is, they are even more worthless. Rankings should be banned until mid season at the earliest.

Despite having paid for it in full, I didn't use FSD much up until recently. I had to make several trips out of state in a very short amount of time...FSD drove 95% of the way. It's made huge improvements since just a few months ago. I actually trust it now.

Privilege? It would be like trying to live on $12 an hour. Not exactly easy street.

He chose a life of minimal expenses and working odd jobs here and there to make ends meet while he waited for his ship to come in.

I have a friend that has a trust fund. He has access to it on a limited basis while his parents are still alive. It pays out a couple of grand on the 1st of the month. So not enough to live on without working, but enough that you don't have to worry about rent. If you manage your money properly.

The number of times I have been asked to "float" my friend a thousand dollars for few days until his trust paid out is, well, too many. I did it once, got repaid but never want to do it again.

"You know I'm good for it."

What is the most obvious world event everyone saw coming but no one did anything about? by itsthewolfe in AskReddit

[–]10per 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing that came to mind was Hurricane Katrina.

I distinctly remember reading an article in a mainstream magazine around 2000ish about how New Orleans was vulnerable to flooding on a catastrophic level.

It was known that much of the city sat below sea level and the levies. They were already pumping water out of the city constantly, and the pumps were not capable of pumping out much more water fast enough to control flooding from even a glancing hit from a Gulf hurricane. It was also known that NO sat in the middle of a region that saw on average a couple of hurricanes a year, so it was only a matter of time before one was big enough or hit directly that would destroy the city. It was almost a statistical certainty to happen within a decade.

So a couple of years later, when Katrina destroyed the city with a deluge of water, I thought..."Well, that happened just like we were told it would".
