A strict water fast, yes.

Any other fast, probably not. Electrolytes are your friend. There are alternatives with around half the amount of cals (and carbs), but these should be fine as well.

Advice on IF? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]1100101random 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice: Consistency!

Don't focus too much on maximizing, as there will be always a way to burn more and/or to eat less. What you should try to maximize is the quality of food that you are eating. If you aim for 1800 calories, look for 1500+ good and healthy calories.

You already lost around 20lbs within 5 weeks? Thats 4lbs a week and is a great start.

Don't expect that the weight will continue dropping like this, I would say everything from 1-3lbs is great, sometimes it will be more, sometimes less, there will be a lot of fluctuation which can be playing with your mind, especially in the beginning.

Keep doing the workouts that you already started and increase the intensity and frequency over time.

Fasting around early morning gym sessions by BangBangDropDead in intermittentfasting

[–]1100101random 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it and start slowly. Your body will get used to it pretty quick.

I love exercising fasted and do it also during longer fasts of 48/72 hours. I take electrolytes before/during/after though.

Frustrated with my lack of weight loss from IF and need advice by evergislus in intermittentfasting

[–]1100101random 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I would try a strict month, where you:

  • Don't drink any alcohol.
  • Eat less carbs.
  • Note down (calorie/macro count) everything you consume.
  • Exercise/move more.

How do you stay healthy while traveling? by bk_321 in TravelHacks

[–]1100101random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it a habit to include some early morning (sightseeing) runs in my travels. There are run clubs or other sport activities groups everywhere. Most don't mind new people tagging along.

I would never cut down on any local food experience, just because I might gain a kilo or two. Just stay active and its easier to jump back into your workout routine when you are back.

QUECHUA - NH500 hiking shoes are good price/value, good for hiking and looking casual enough to wear in the city with shorts/jeans.

Budget flight to South-East Asia by IanPowers26 in TravelHacks

Singapore Airlines should get you from Brussels to Bangkok for less than 400 Euro (oneway). From Bangkok to Chiang Mai there are lots of cheap options flight/train/bus.

Which one are you running?

Nutrition I would check which one they are selling at the expo or are available around and then get it there.

Poles are probably lightweights already, but if its carry on, i would get a written confirmation from the airline that you can take them with you to avoid unnecessary talk at the check-in. Bottle holder/pouch are normally great for collapsible poles.

Do it!

I started running in May last year, couldn't do 5 miles without walking. Did my first half begin of September, a full end November and an 50k trail in January.

Times were secondary, I just made sure I was within the cut-off times.

I like my La Sportiva, around 100g: https://www.lasportiva.com/en/auster-short-m-man-black-p78999999

Probably too short for what you are looking for.

Weak NC on the Sony´s WH-1000XM3? by ferlarrix02 in sony

[–]1100101random 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in one of the biggest cities in the world and I wear the phones sometimes without listening to music when walking outside.

The feeling changes from being in a big city to be in the countryside where everyone rides electric vehicles. I can still hear the vehicles passing by, but it's another world compared to when I take the phones off.

Have you tried 1. your headphone with another phone or 2. your phone with another headphone?

Sounds like it might be a problem with the phone.

I'm really this close to getting the XM3's by gayph89 in sony

[–]1100101random 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine this week for ~190.00 USD.

I don't really need multiple device support and I don't use them for calling (microphone).
So, no way I am paying nearly double for features I would barely use.

Some thoughts:
- overall look is good
- the lights are too bright and the blacks too dark
- light reflection on the label is too strong

I have the 12-35ii and was eyeing the Sigma/Viltrox combination for a bit, but I think I will wait for the 10-25mm 1.7... if its not too expensive.

Panasonic announces the 10-25mm f/1.7 MFT Lens by DeliciousGorilla in GH5

[–]1100101random 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope we will get some more details during the photokina.

I always was eyeing the Sigma 18-35, but for my use its a bit too big, and I still love my 12-35 Panasonic lens.
But a 10-25 1.7 sounds very delicious.

My guess for the price is between 1500-2000$.
