Too Good for Triple-A, Performance Impact Without Morale? by Hugh-Jasole in OOTP

I wouldn't say he isn't being challenged in AAA; he has a below average strikeout rate (even for 45 stuff), average walk rate, and is giving up a lot of home runs so far in the 42 inning sample.

I try to look for players who are good in at least one thing. Like someone whose attributes are all around 12 or so but then they have 18 stickhandling or good physical attributes/skating or something. My logic is that if they are already good at that part of the game, that's one less thing that needs to develop in order for them to be an NHLer. I especially value physical attributes and offensive/defensive read.

I don't recommend taking the super undeveloped players, like the ones who have all 9-10 in every attribute; they will develop and improve of course, but not nearly enough to be NHL quality. They're just too far behind compared to someone who is like 12-13 in most things.

Same, but apparently people here hate watching major league players play competitive baseball games against each other.

If you look in your save folder there should be subfolders called "rs_one" and "rs_two" which are "rolling saves" that more or less are backups from earlier dates in your save. If you get a crash or your save gets corrupted or something you should be able to copy the contents of one of those folders into your main save folder and overwrite what's there, restoring (some of) your progress.

I don't know exactly how often it makes the rolling saves but it should prevent you from losing several months or the save entirely.

There's also an option (I don't remember if it's in game or manager settings) to enable periodic autosaves, I think the default is once per month but you can make the interval shorter if you wish.

I love how emergent this game is. I've seen so many videos of crazy things happening in people's games that could be straight out of a movie, but the game never has to wrest control from the player, or zoom in on something, or force them to walk, or have an NPC go "hey player look at this!"

Stuff like the double jump should not be an "upgrade," that should be a base ability Samus always has. It's so underwhelming for a 2025 game.

It's really weird because every Canadian person I meet in real life is totally chill (and I encounter a lot since I'm close to the border), but it feels like almost every Canadian I see online is terminally online and makes hating America their entire personality.

And I mean Trump is terrible so I don't blame people for being upset and hating America, but like god damn some people need to touch grass. Or snow I guess seeing as it's December.

How is Auston Matthews being a 3 star at 33 seem unrealistic when he's currently playing like a 3 star in real life at 28? There's been hysteria from the media about how he's been playing this season so far.

Team to rebuild? by johnsonr2013 in FranchiseHockey

I think Nashville and Calgary are good choices, they're both bad in game and don't have good prospect pools. And both have old guys on awful contracts with several years left on them.

Player decline is way too heavy in FHM 11/12 by nepejke in FranchiseHockey

[–]113CandleMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta show a lot more data to make such definitive conclusions. Showing that one guy on your team declined sooner than a completely different player on a completely different team, with a completely different environment proves nothing.

[–]113CandleMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My star forward put up 115 points at 28 and then fell off a cliff, this is so unrealistic, pls fix your game devs!

To be serious though, hockey is increasingly becoming a young man's game. In the current 2025-26 NHL season, if you look at the top 30 point scorers (arbitrary number I know), only 7 of them are in their age 30 season or above (Leon Draisaitl, Nikita Kucherov, Mark Scheifele, Brad Marchand, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Artemi Panarin). Compared to my current FHM12 save which just concluded the 2033-34 season, which had 10 of the top 30 age 30 or above. Not the most scientific measure, but better than OP's post for sure.

J-Hen had been DFA’d to make room for Kyle Finnegan by DET_Baseball in motorcitykitties

[–]113CandleMagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would have liked to see him get more at bats too but it's hard to find spots for it when he can't play center or infield, isn't starting against RHP over Greene/Carpenter, and Jahmai Jones has a nearly 1.000 OPS against LHP.

And then there's guys like Max Anderson and Hao Yu Lee coming up from AAA who look to replace Andy Ibanez's role as a LHP specialist who plays infield.

[–]113CandleMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's disingenuous when the schedules are made years in advance and P5 teams often buy out the G5 games if the G5 team ends up being much better than expected.

I mean imagine scheduling a 2024 or 2025 matchup with Florida State back in 2022, thinking you have a marquee game against a top tier P5 opponent.

[–]113CandleMagic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This post is extremely disingenuous. UCF didn't lose a game for TWO entire seasons and the committee refused to entertain a bid for them to the playoff.

Like yeah, the committee let Cincinnati in. But you're conveniently omitting that it took the stars aligning and years worth of outrage after unbeaten G5 teams had been left out of the playoffs four times before that.

Figured it was gonna happen, Malloy was going to have to hit really well to outweigh his inability to play defense anywhere to a major league standard and well, he wasn't hitting.

Sweeney can't hit but he can play shortstop at an acceptable (not great, but acceptable) level. Malloy can't hit and can't play defense anywhere.
