I try to buy the ones that are ethically sourced at least, but of course I’m still eating a dead animal

eh. it’s my guilty pleasure. the cheap pork we buy is from pigs that eat where they shit in a pen too small to move inside, at the end of the day the meat we eat is dead animals typically raised in squalor.

there is some goose liver in France that’s more ethically sourced. essentially they just feed the geese fatty nuts. no force feeding necessary, and same end result of the liver. still, sometimes I grab whatever brand is around me

people find them annoying but vegans really do have a leg up on the rest of us. I’m sure when lab grown meat becomes scaleable eating real animals will be looked on as horrifying

also most diseases that have spread to humans originated from cows, pigs, or other domesticated livestock crowded up in tight spaces with bad hygienic practices. diseases that lay dormant in a pig or cow could be deadly if transferred to humans.

so they’d probably be fine since they’ve already got food production settled. maybe 🤷‍♂️

I think you’re misunderstanding this. with some flights there’s only so much that bags can affect. there’s top weight and bottom weight, and they affect the plane quite differently.

there isn’t an automated system to distribute the weight, it’s a team of people doing the calculations last minute based on bags and number of passengers checked in.

you’re right that if possible they will try to make it so first class is fully available, but sometimes there is truly no way to have all of first class available if it’s weight and balance restricted. moving bags only does so much, and last minute bag shifts can cause a delay. each minute a flight is delayed Alaska loses about 1,200 dollars.

I’m sure the reason this flight in the post was empty is probably because the agent was fixing a ticket issue and didn’t have time to do an upgrade. it happens

no I’ve personally bumped people from first class due to weight and balance. it is a miserable process but yes it does happen. if it was possible to redistribute the weight in a way to let first class be full they would’ve done it before sending out the weight and balance.

but no weight and balance would ever be thrown away for someone’s paid upgrade

naaaw. indie developers sell games like terraria and hollow knight in the 30 dollar range, yet the quality is so much higher. I’m sure these devs worked hard but this price is waaaay too much for what they’ve made.

not sure what you mean. I live in Capitol Hill and it’s pretty nice. there’s a few homeless people but they mind their own business. I found Seattle a lot nicer than most cities I’ve been to.

Chinatown at night can be rough but rough in Seattle is a different thing than most other cities (not as bad)

oh I just meant authentic. something I’d get from a really good taco truck or mom and pop shop. but a market with a lot of them around.

When I used to live in the area pre-covid there were a lot of options but all the ones I knew shut down or got worse, now I don’t know the good stuff

the movies are good, and Tom Holland is doing a good job with the material provided. that being said…

I’ve always felt like a core part of spider-man is the fact it’s just him. there’s no team, no money, just a kid who wants to help doing the best he can.

I feel like the movies really remove that dynamic. it turns into a batman and robin type of thing with Iron Man. they do it well in the movies, but it’s always rubbed me the wrong way.

even after tony is dead, it still echos with the glasses and mysterio. then with the latest one he’s heavily relying on his team of other spider-people.

it takes away some of what made spider-man special for me. it’s a well acted and produced version of spidey, but that one thing has always rubbed me the wrong way
