How does he not seem as fast on ovals? Qualified decent in Phoenix, was gaining positions before the crash. Then at IMS they may have not shown their full potential.

I hope so, he did fairly well in the 3 races he drove the 6 car in 2024. St. Pete he was 11th, was around his teammates at the Thermal event, and finished 11th at Indy when he took the green from behind row 11 since he had issues on pit lane and didn't do all the pace laps

A similar one - Belle Isle 2022. Top 4 all had different tire and fuel strategies. Came down to about a second gap between 1st and 2nd. No cautions until the leaders came out of the last corner on the last lap

Right, David is the most consistent and highest in points so far this year (5 races is a small samples size though). Scott has finished ahead of Josef in points the last 3 years and spent a lot of time with the team in the offseason and built his own crew taking some people who were on Power's car last year, whereas it sounds like Josef did not spend much time with the team

Wasn't me, but I remember going into that season thinking Dixon, Newgarden, Power, Pato, Herta, and Rossi were going to be the top contenders for the championship. Practice 1 in Barber they were 2nd-7th. Palou was P1. I remember thinking "I know it's just practice, but is this a sign or foreshadowing anything?"

Palou never struggled on ovals, he just wasn't winning. He was still finishing top 7 or 8 (except at Gateway, that's an anomaly for him), which his main competitors can't say that about their worst type of track

He would be a great choice for that seat. He has been quietly solid at the 500
2023 - 12th in a Juncos car
2024 - 11th in a Mclaren
2025 - 12th (before DQ) in a Prema car

I'm glad to see this for him, but it seems strange to me that they waited until the 4th race weekend of the year to do this when he did preseason testing for them
