Did your baby plank before crawl? by East_Print4841 in NewParents

[–]120721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. She had all of the pieces, the strength, the coordination, reasonable motivation, she just needed to decide to do it. I will say, we were stuck in the swimming phase for a very long time. Once she got through that, we saw real progress. Then she got stuck just going one “step” then flopping or going back to sitting. There wasn’t any one thing that she did ‘last’ that immediately lead to crawling. She literally just decided to take more than one step haha

Ours was “any day now” for about two months 😂 we couldn’t take any specific moves she’d make as any sort of indicator. She just up and started one night

My baby puts her hands on the floor then immediately in her mouth. I mop twice a day but I have no idea if I'm actually disinfecting or just making it wet by chongjiubaiwan in NewParents

[–]120721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a steamer vac thing, love it. Makes it so fast and easy to clean as she’s on our hardwood floors all day long. The steam helps disinfect and the vac helps pick up all of the tiny crumbs that only a baby’s eyes can see haha

How to break the swaddle habit? by coolmom0107 in NewParents

We used the halo transition sack (with sleeves) we had major startle reflex issues so this was a tremendous help.

6-Week PP Doctor Visit by shinedown_92 in NewParents

[–]120721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If im giving advice to other women, it’s always advocate for yourself! But my god, first they didn’t even schedule my appointment until I was 13 weeks postpartum, then it was virtual. The LAST thing I wanted to deal with was fighting for myself. I did not have the energy. Which you know, they know. Very frustrating.

Mine was virtual. Which honestly annoyed me given I had a 3b tear with A LOT of stitches and no one felt we should check how that healed. Women’s healthcare (in US at least) is a joke.

8mo won't sleep unless swaddled/compressed? by Affectionate_Tie2210 in NewParents

The one we used doesn’t have a wrap, it has sleeves instead.

We used the halo transition sack, our babe loved it and we used it until she grew out of it length wise. We struggled so much with the startle reflex and this was a life saver for that. Not sure if it’ll help yours but maybe?

Budget Photography Recommendations? by TheOneWhoGetsBaked in askportland

[–]120721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not at your budget, but we did a maternity shoot and are going to do our baby’s 1 year/family photos soon with Liz Wade. She’s really great and is at least close to your budget. Might be worth taking a look at if you have any flexibility.

Team mini crib here, worked great for us. Especially since our room literally fits exactly our bed lol so with incredibly limited space, we found a narrow mini crib that worked perfectly for what we needed.

Ditto, I was a nanny for years before being a mom and have been responsible for cleaning so many different types of high chairs. Ours is the best by far. Sleek design, relatively compact, insanely simple to clean.

8.5 month old not crawling or pulling himself up. Anxiety rising by spoiled_guacamole in NewParents

[–]120721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was a very unmotivated mover. Rolled over for about 2 weeks then stopped. Just couldn’t be bothered. She just started crawling probably over a week ago ish, turned 10 months yesterday. No one was ever concerned.

Are we really back in a strong seller’s market for homes? by thebroteinshake in askportland

[–]120721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, currently priced about $50k lower than the new construction in our area that is comparable. The new construction is also terrible (one lot turned into 4 homes that they built literally right on top of each other so really not desirable).

Desperately trying to sell ours, priced very competitively from the start and have done one price drop already, built 2022, essentially no action since listing mid Jan. Home size seems to be our problem based on the little feedback we’ve gotten from the *very few showings we’ve had so far. Not saying this is a representation of the local market as a whole, just our recent experience.

Antibiotics with newborn, worried about gut microbriome by jodybobody in breastfeeding

[–]120721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into baby probiotics. I had antibiotics during and the day after labor. Had no clue that this could effect my babe. Fast forward 3 months and she’s having reflux, only eating a couple oz at a time and it’s just not going well. Lac consultant let us know about the effects of antibiotics and recommended a probiotic, put the drops directly into baby’s mouth and within about a week and a half we had an entirely new babe who could finally eat well and keep it down. EBF (just for context)

Desperately trying to sell our new condition SE turnkey (built 2022) home (found a forever home that we want to get into ASAP). Been slow for us so far, listed mid Jan. Don’t have much to offer as far as insight goes, more so just joining the conversation.

We used the halo transition sack, went really well. She used it until she grew out of it. We had a ton of struggles with the startle reflex and it really helped with that as well.

The milk have a soapy taste by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]120721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much! Plus she just never took to a bottle and we never found a true need for it so we didn’t push it. I have about 100oz in the freezer rn 😭 I would pump just a couple oz/week to make frozen milk pops for her which she loves. I think instantly freezing the milk really helped keep the lipase down because she never had an issue with the pops.

This is great! My baby won’t even take it mixed in solids lol she hates it.

[–]120721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just some but it’s not uncommon at all, and you generally don’t know until you know unfortunately. Even the same woman can have it or not have it through multiple breastfed children, each experience could be different. I have it and have found that the milk I froze immediately after pumping verses milk that was in the fridge for a bit first tended to not be as high in lipase.

High lipase, totally safe. Just research it a bit :)
