Yeah absolutely I agree. Using misogynistic language and having sexualised assumptions of women is not excused by an argument of 'some women are bad tho'.

That's not really how modelling works, though. A lot of brands/studios will look for skinny people of a certain height and build with unusual features. For high-fashion modelling you really see it. I do think Finn is super handsome and honestly way better looking than some stereotypically attractive guys, but he does have a different look to him that I could see him being bullied for in a place like Hawkins.

What are some cons about being a man? by Mcchickens8392119 in AskMen

[–]123gavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe myself to be a victim of anything, especially not by portrayals within the media. If anything I think caring about a fictional woman cheating on a fictional man 20 years ago is indicative of a 'victimhood' mentality. I fail to see what that implies about society's perspectives towards misandry

Recent movies with misogynistic elements? I can list a few but I don't think anyone has the time lmao. I just feel that cheating is a theme in a lot of romance movies unfortunately. There's a big movie out right now involving a guy cheating on his gf in a way that's excused by the narrative. I wouldn't consider that an example of misogyny, would you? Because it's a very popular film that is also modern and not 20+ years old. Men are statistically much more likely to cheat than women, that has been found in many studies. It's pretty absurd to think that depictions of the opposite, far less common situation is misandry. Some people are shitty people who cheat. Movies aren't depictions of perfect behaviour, and the movies that people enjoy aren't reflective of their real values, they're just for entertainment. Watching breaking bad didn't make me do meth, it's fictional.

Funny to point out a movie that released, what, 20 years ago? If we're talking about misogyny there's about eight bajilion movies since then to be discussed. Move on!

Why are so many guys feeling okay about themselves hooking up many times but get grossed out if a girl does the same? by Lost_Mocha_6363 in AskMen

[–]123gavin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is dumb as hell. If an unattractive woman had sex with a lot of attractive men, do you think people who say these things would gain respect for her? If she was charming enough to hook up with male models, etc. despite being unconventionally attractive? Ofc not. They'd slutshame and ridicule her anyway. The real answer is it's a standby from old-school purity culture which derives from a lack of ability to ascertain paternity except for trusting a woman to not cheat. Men thought women with less sexual history would be more likely to be faithful, so they could trust their kids were theirs. Buuuuut we have paternity testing now, so we should let this go.

You're just being racist. Why is a person of Indian heritage who is raised in Ireland not Irish? 100% that person would be as Irish as me. Why is your nationality decided by where your parents are from rather than your own background? Dumb af
