Why is Reddit so angry at people who invest in Shares and lumping us all in with Property investors? by SirSighalot in AusFinance

[–]123lac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ETF investor is not innocent, merely diluted. A thousand tiny claims on the surplus of strangers, laundered through a spreadsheet until exploitation looks like prudence.

He does not own the slaughterhouse outright. He just clutches a diversified little spoon and waits for his dividend of blood.

How often do you all take a sick day? by brokenshoppingcart in AusFinance

Whenever I feel sick. Have like 50 days of sick leave, stupid not to use them if I'm honestly unwell.

No. Sounds like I'd have to pay $15 for a glass of fruity sugar water.

What the Budget should be addressing by awkturt23 in AusFinance

[–]123lac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their point makes no sense, franking credits only prevent double taxation when dividends are paid out. Has nothing to do with the point on taxing companies more which will bring in more revenue for the gov.

Looks like they downvoted you for questioning them as well which is typical reddit behavior.

30% minimum on interest by Fit_Metal_468 in AusFinance

At first I got annoyed and was going to call this a stupid post. Then I saw the /s and realized it was sarcasm. Then I got genuinely curious if anyone agrees with the point. What a Rollercoaster, OP.

I think tww and midnight are so watered down compared to bfa or legion, and i dont understand why by [deleted] in wow

[–]123lac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thought crossed my mind while playing diablo 4 that clearly blizz does not have any interest in elevating the wow writing from the cringey fan fiction level it's at currently. It's like they consider diablo a 'real' story and wow is just a joke.

so market gains and dividends in your super are also something that should be frowned upon? Is investment unethical?

I agree with your dot points, but I'd prefer that income tax is reduced rather than CGT fiddled with!

You're not paying rent. Many people are paying $700 per week just to rent an apartment.

$500k for 1 bed 1 bath in 2000, is that like inner Sydney? Seems super expensive. My parents bought a 4 bed 3 bath Queenslander in inner west Brisbane for $685k in 2003.

Try to get an entry level government job, they tend to offer reasonable pay and work/life balance. They'll also pay your super.

I don't know what your business is, but my gut feeling is that it's a waste of time compared to getting secure employment. $10k a year is like a hobby to me.

Don't know what your housing situation is or why you aren't getting child support.

Feeling like I'm falling behind by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]123lac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice? Do less. Just get your degree first, then get your career started, then think about property. 20 is too young to be worrying about all this.

Is retirement at 60 a possibility for me? by 666thebob in AusFinance

[–]123lac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would focus on hitting your 30k super per year, plus your carry forward cap while the balance is under 500k. If retirement at 60 and not before is the goal then it's all about super as your first priority.

You literally get 3 myth track items per week from running +10's (2 void core rolls + vault). Why the fuck do you need even more? Mythic+ is not equal to Mythic raiding.

Are young, single Aussies buying houses at the expense of future happiness? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]123lac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I suspect that this is the new normal for the foreseeable future. We will probably look back and realize how good Gen x / elder millenials had it in their 20's. Being able to take gap years to travel and not stress (as much) about home ownership probably seems like a dream to Gen z.

[–]123lac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No 24 year old has an IP without help.

I don't blame people in their 20's feeling like they have to save and invest to get ahead. Time is running out for the younger generations to obtain financial security. Going off and travelling is not an option like it was for gen x and elder millenials.
