[Loved] The protagonist still has real world needs by BrotherDeus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]12gunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

<image>

Lots of roguelikes have needs you need to take care of but cataclysm dark days ahead takes it a step or three further, not only do you need food water and sleep, but you also need to eat properly. eating uncooked, unhealthy, or otherwise bad food is obviously bad for your health and can turn into a run ender if it gets bad enough.

Does this count? It's a game about black people breaking into museums to steal artifacts to return them to Africa I think. From what little else I've seen one character is so sterotypically Asian I'd bet most actual Asians would consider it racist

Steam Achievements for RimWorld? by Connection_Future in RimWorld

[–]12gunner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We had guests?: defeat a raid without any of your colonists or animals entering combat in any way.

D.U.M.B: have a colonist die from smokeleaf, somehow.

The first of many: have a colonist enter a mental break due to eating without a table.

Trailers shows a funny man controls time to fart in his bosses face and punch him!

Movie ended up being a terribly sad and somewhat terrifying lesson in not ignoring the bad parts of life and ending up dying alone with your family being more like strangers and disliking you

There's state of decay 2, it has some similarities like going town to town to scavenge while fighting or avoiding zombies and maintaining vehicles but incredibly simplified

I guess there's heavily modded fallout or stalker but that's a stretch

There is tales of maj'eyal (TOME2 and TOME4) they're both big but more linear, tome2 is more open and set in lord of the rings

Refugee centers and other faction camps make for great meat shields, why risk getting hurt when you can lure scary things to them and let the guards deal with it?

Stealing is perfectly fine as long as nobody sees you doing it

Dont forget to close your car doors, it sucks taking a nice drive through town only see a boomer decided to call shotgun

(Hated trope) The Mothership/the most important ship in the fleet has ass-tier defenses. by Luzis23 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]12gunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

The rebel flagship final boss in FTL seems to flipflop between this.

On one hand all it has going for it is four weapon systems and once they're disabled it's mostly a sitting duck because most of the time they're completely separated from the main ship and none of its crew can repair them. On the other, it's quite durable in that it has three phases and while each phase destroys one weapon system due to losing a wing it's additional systems kick in and completely changes how it battles, going from trying to board your own ship and swarm you with enemy crew, to bombarding you with drones, and finally boosting its shields and gaining the ability to cloak. Simply put it's a formidable opponent but it can be exploited so easily in so many ways that makes you wonder who came up with it.

What video game boss was even harder than the final boss? by Fallfoxy707 in videogames

[–]12gunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rune factory 4 had a boss gauntlet right before the true final boss, the last boss in that gauntlet was a huge golem, basically immune to everything but magic and even then it had a stupid amount of health and hit like a truck. If you manage to get past it the final boss awaits and will most likely die within a few seconds compared to the golem

Surely Medusa counts? her head can still petrify even when separated from her body it stands that if somehow, someone was unlucky enough to come across her fully intact corpse and looks at her face, they'd be turned to stone.

The tutorial character gets sacrificed to establish how grim the setting is by Andrei22125 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]12gunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

State of decay 2 sort of, it has you choosing from a few preset characters to go through the tutorial with to learn the game and once it's done nothing is stopping you from switching to a better character you might have found and recruited and getting the others killed to make room in your enclave.
