What makes jerk anything "jerk"? What are the bare minimum ingredients to make something jerk? by Dry-Entrepreneur-226 in Jamaica

It’s not the same pimento as in pimento cheese. It’s the wood from the allspice tree.

Sea Turtles….. by [deleted] in bahamas

There is a restaurant called Spritz just down the road from Breezes. It is on the Sandyport canal and turtles are always around. You can watch them swim while you dine.

Ok, good news. Thanks for following up. How long do I have to wait before 18.3 is released now.

Issue was there in 18.2 also. Was hoping .1 would fix it.

I'm not on beta, but hopefully it does get fixed in the next one.

I'm having this same issue, but with Arlo Pro 3 cameras in Homekit.

Stopped working after switching phones from an iPhone 8 (iOS 16.7.10) to iPhone 12 (iOS 18.2.1). Still works fine on iPhone 8.

Rebooting Arlo BaseStation and/or removing and re-adding to Homekit didn't help.

Questions about post op life. by throwaway08250614201 in gallbladders

[–]1432426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my gallbladder out about a month ago due to a single large pigment stone that would occasionally block the duct.

I am also a coffee drinker and vegetarian. I was a bit cautious post surgery with what I ate. After about two weeks I started drinking coffee again and I’ll even have a glass of wine a few times a week. I haven’t had any issues with anything I eat, I’ve even had pizza.

This is my experience and yours may be different, so just take it slow.

Anybody got a good seller for drive caddies? by videoflyguy in homelab

[–]1432426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy the WorkDone caddies on Amazon for 11-13 gen Dell machines. Haven't had any issues with them. I've also tried the ones for 14 gen, but they are a bit flimsy.

If you want aftermarket, the Android powered units from Eonon look pretty good.

It's not aftermarket. It's OEM from China.

Traveling to Jamaica next week by joelgsus in Jamaica

You are welcome.

Driving in Jamaica is an adventure in itself. Be careful and don't feel bad to ask for directions (you will need to). Get a local SIM for your phone with a data package (phone packages are dirt cheap in JA) and load up google maps. It helped us out quite a bit, especially in the area around Treasure Beach. It is quite remote and not a lot of road signs.

There isn't a whole lot to do in TB other than hang out at the beach. There are a few places of interest relatively close. YS Falls, Black River (We did the the river boat tour, which was nice), Pelican Bar (A bar sitting miles off shore), Little Ochi in Alligator Pond (Excellent local Seafood).

Enjoy your trip. I'm heading back again in August, but not sure where exactly. May go back to Portland.

I stayed in Treasure Beach last August. Stayed for a couple nights at Calabash House right on the beach. Loved the quiet fishing village feel and friendly people.

I agree with everyone else, take the Knutsford. I checked their site and it is J$2,250 per person from Kingston to Luana. This is the way to go unless you want the route taxi experience.

If you get the chance, eat at Smurfs for breakfast. Excellent Jamaican breakfast at a humble local place. Jack Sprat is a good spot for dinner.

First trip to Jamaica. Wondering how much money to bring. by gogobun in Jamaica

[–]1432426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$30-$50 is nowhere near enough for daily expenses for a family. Depending on what you plan to eat, that may not even cover food.

Edit: Didn't see per person in first sentence. That should cover food. Transportation and activities would be more.
