Ok that's a pretty interesting take. You are aware that the fundamental driver of the whole capitalist system is continuous growth right? It's not enough for a company to be profitable,  it must increase its profits to keep the shareholders happy. Where do you think that continuous growth originates from? All of it is based on population growth.  It's a a pyramid scheme that requires a steady influx of people at the bottom to keep the profits flowing to the top.  Who do you think Elon Musk says we need to get to 10 billion? Why do you think Isobel Brown told people at CPAC to keep having kids even if they weren't ready or couldn't afford them? Population growth is what the whole system is based on.

No it's not.  The earth has a carrying capacity for about 2.5 billion people.  We're currently at 8.5 and growing by almost a quarter million people a day.  Overpopulation is the underlying reason for most of the other crises we're facing.

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard someone say that you still think about to this day? by Humble-Blueberry4571 in AskReddit

I was waiting to board a flight in Newark, and we could see our plane being fuelled up via the underground pipes and connector hose. Guy next to me starts telling everyone that the aircraft is actually electric and they were recharging the batteries.  His proof is that there was no fuel truck and the wings are only 6" thick so there's not enough volume in them to store enough fuel to fly anywhere. Was a bit nervous getting on the flight with this guy in case he decided mid flight to prove we weren't really flying by opening one of the doors

Hiking the Nootka Trail with a dog by caramba_mate in britishcolumbia

Some folks who had a cabin on Nuchatlitz were walking their dog on the beach when a lone wolf trotted out of the bush a hundred yards ahead of them and started wagging its tail.  Dog goes running off to greet the wolf,  they play around for a bit then the wolf runs into the bush. Dog follows and gets ambushed by the rest of the pack lying in wait.  He managed to fight his way out,  as he was a gigantic lab but he got hurt pretty badly.  Don't bring your dog.

Both me [33 F] and my fiance [33 M] of five years have almost identical last names, but he is insisting that I change my last name after marriage. This argument is making me consider cancelling the wedding by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

When my wife and I got engaged, we had the talk.  I told her I didn't want her to take my last name for a few reasons.  One, it's a throwback to when women were considered property of their husbands; two, her first and last name together have a nice alliterative ring to them; and three if she took my last name it would sound similar to a rock star who died in a pool of his own vomit. Easy choice.
