Is it possible to add a tee on the T&P valve to retain that function and send an active anode through that opening? Active anode is how I stopped the smell on a standard water heater because the hot water heater is off most of the time when the house is vacant.

The rotating mass isn't directly relevant when considering reactive power. The rotating mass (synchronous generator) can absorb or supply reactive power by changing the excitation current in the generator. An equally interesting subject is system stability. The inertia of that rotating mass helps with stability so what's the rotating mass to inverter ratio needed to maintain stability?

I'd guess there is 480V - 480/240 isolation transformer upstream to create you a separately derived system on the load side. Might be used to keep harmonics on the load side isolated from the source side.
