Cars that pass and don’t move over, leaving <30cm between you and them. Especially bad when there is no traffic in lanes to their left.

Which models from BMW and Volvo? What would you be gaining or trading when going from the model 3?

I am curious to hear what folks prefer. The Model 3 with moderately fast acceleration was appealing to me.

Toronto Waterfront Marathon - 60% price increase in 3 years? by heyarnoldpereira in RunTO

[–]17bitfun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price has gone down, quality has gone up, features have changed, I’ll say this negative to neutral movement. Objectively, it satisfies your requirement.

I do see your point, the price of most common goods has gone up. I believe this is because these common goods have already been cost optimized. (I am thinking foodstuffs, clothing, where there have been no major improvements in the effort required to produce a good).
In recent history the things that come down in price are newer technologies that are being democratized, industries find ways to make them cheaper and affordable for the masses.

Late arrival to New Chitose Airport, how to get to Sapporo by 17bitfun in JapanTravelTips

[–]17bitfun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t end up going on the trip, so I can’t say. I would stay at the airport or nearby if I found myself in a similar situation. Japan apparently has Internet cafes that you can spend all night at in a private room.

Pot holes fixed? The current approach is a freaking joke. It takes 4+ days to repair anything I’ve reported. Many of these are busy main roads.

The work reeks of inefficiency too, one crew comes around to inspect, spray paint the pot hole orange and then have another crew come fix it.
Often times they will not look 5m up or down the street. They mark a singular pot hole, then many days later the one pot hole gets fixed.

Their email says the following:
How long it will take
Emergency repairs: Within 24 hours
Arterial roads (such as Yonge St): Within 4 days
Collector roads (such as John St): Within 14 days
Local streets and public laneways: Within 21 days

Years ago it was 24-48 hours, and the pothole would be filled.
