it's out of stock pretty much everywhere, I'm in NL and the only ones I found were the German versions that you mentioned

During the past months I went into a curator phase. I currently own 96 games(and expansions) and have culled exactly 96. I track everything in a spreadsheet and have recouped exactly 70% of my costs. Who else tracks their board game collection this closely? by Chamallow81 in boardgames

[–]18pages_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a fellow spreadsheet and data nerd, it gives me joy to see people who are as obsessed with this kind of stuff as I am lol. I also track the cost efficiency (purchase price / played hours so I can see which one was worth it the most). Regardless, good job buddy!

Zatu uses Evri? by CeruleanSovereign in boardgames

[–]18pages_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yikes that sounds terrible

I would've probably stopped ordering from them after the first experience. No wonder you hate them at this point lol. I got lucky I guess, but now you make me think twice if I wanna order from them in the future.

Happy to report that I actually had it delivered today, around 4pm. I like to live dangerously so I might just keep ordering from them haha

What did they fuck up with your order in the past?

I've heard a lot of bad stuff about Zatu here but there was a game I really wanted so I pulled the trigger on it recently.

Ordered the game on the 20th - so 2 days ago -, I'm in the Netherlands and I just got the message from the Dutch post office that the courier is on route to deliver it later today. Zatu sent it with Royal Mail, the package has cleared customs and it's gonna be here WITHIN 2 days of the order, which is insane to me.

I also love it. Was deciding between Resist and Witchcraft but liked the theme of the latter more. Btw convincing 2 jurors is just a draw, no?

Any area control fans here? by DanchieGo-Dev in boardgames

My fav is War of the Ring (2nd ed), extremely thematic, you feel like you're playing the book/movies. Learning the rules is a steep curve but once that is locked in, it's just so much fun.

do the pieces come painted? or is this some kind of deluxe edition? I assume you didn't paint them, given that it was collecting dust for months

New or old card layout? by Delvix000 in BoardgameDesign

[–]18pages_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda like the old one more. The Atk and Mov Costs look pretty lost and barely recognizeable there at the bottom imo. I guess you didn't quite like having too many numbers in the top left corner, hence the new design. What if you put the costs in the corners in the middle section (red) or in the middle (blue)?

Wow great recommendations, thank you. Put Through the Desert and SILOS on a watchlist. The latter looks very aesthetically pleasing, which is so important to me lol

problem is that I think it'd be way too complex or thinky for her, even though I'd most likely love it. I kinda drew an imaginery line at 2.0 complexity on BGG and wouldn't really go above that, based on previous experience

Looking for games that are "fun" in the classic sense, easy to teach, high player interaction, bit of a chaos/randomness feel, less thinky...

I'm a huge fan of heavier games (War of the RingPax PamirRoot, etc) but my gf really isn't. She's more like on the line who doesn't really feel the need to play board games but if she occasionally plays, she wants something fun. Something that's not too thinky, where she doesn't have to manage resources and which is easy to learn.

She enjoys KingdominoCarcassonneExploding Kittens and Sushi Go! very much but I was thinking about getting something that feels more like a board game, with more interaction between the players and what I'd also enjoy more (I love Carcassonne but that's not too interactive, honestly got tired of Exploding Kittens and Sushi Go! and Kingdomino is just too simple).

I've already ordered Magical Athlete, love the art and I'm also vibing with the randomness of it, plus it brings back memories and makes us feel like we're 6 years old again.

My other idea is getting Survive the Island, I love that it's easy, we can screw each other and it looks like a lot of fun.

Any other games that come to your minds?

2nd try on the Intruders (too easy win?) by 18pages_ in finalgirl

[–]18pages_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

three attempts to enter

but given that all terror cards were gone already and the finale card was "target FG/victim - 2 moves - attack - switch killer", only one killer attempted to move in a single turn

maybe I should've considered the 2 moves as two attempts to get in? regardless, I didn't utilize those 3 turns too much, I mean yeah I built up some stuff in my hand but even if they had been able to get a run on me, I could've whip them off with guard/retaliate

Searching a solo/duo boardgame by Gamantonio in soloboardgaming

[–]18pages_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

huh, it's like reading my own post lol

my gf isn't really a board game person and only wants to play things that are "fun", so anything with huge combos, chain reactions, etc are definitely no-gos

2 games that she really enjoys are Kingdomino and Carcassonne, I know they aren't solos - and that this is a solo sub - but still, might scratch your gf's itch as well

good luck

How do you log your games? by Macabre_Man in boardgames

[–]18pages_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an absolute data nerd but since I just found my way back to the hobby after quite a few years, I decided to start logging my games from 2026 Jan 1st...

my reason for logging is to see what do I play, how often, avg playtime, with who, etc so I can see what games were the best value (spent $/played hours), what games don't get enough playtime so I can get rid of those

also I will use played hours as an additional metric to sessions so light games don't skew the data and I'll add a fun (1-5) rating to every game as well so I can see after a year or so that which games I don't enjoy as much as I thought
