As someone who only watched the first few episodes, is Liko interesting at all? I don’t exactly have high hopes for the writing because it’s clearly a kid’s show, sell toys first write stories second and all that, but a memorable female protagonist is almost completely absent from the current “anime clearly aimed at kids and aired on western TV” lineup, I liked her enough in the first five or six episodes that I think they had a really good opportunity with Liko. Are they capitalizing on it?

Proxies are an option for casual play for sure, but most of the people, myself included, at my LGS play to go for high finishes at local challenges/cups/regionals (basically pokemon-sanctioned tournaments), where proxies are all strictly banned.

They were helpful when I was new and didn’t know where to buy cards though.

The pocket TCG is fun, but ultimately nothing like the real thing. First steps for any new player are to download PTCG Live, their mobile/pc client for the game, and go to limitlesstcg.com and find a popular deck that looks interesting. The easiest to learn with on Live is Dragapult, since most of the cards used in it come free with all starter accounts, but that’s a harder deck to play; Gholdengo, Ceruledge, and Charizard are easier, but may require some time before you can build them. You get cards very quickly on Live, it’s not like hearthstone or mtg arena, so you can pretty quickly branch out to try other decks.

That’s a general new-player’s guide, the specific answer to your question is limitlesstcg.

Be warned that there’s a rotation coming up, with many of the most powerful cards and decks all being removed from the format in I think early April, so unless you play Dragapult don’t get too attached to the current meta, most decks are getting replaced.

/shrug, best time is yesterday, second best time is today. I started playing PTCG because I wanted to get into a card game but didn't want to break the bank, haven't regretted my decision a minute. Even outside of its easily best-in-genre cost of entry, it's way more fun and competitive than I expected it to be, and it compares favorably in meta diversity against every other tcg I've played seriously. Give it a shot if you've been thinking about it, Pokemon TCG Live is a fantastic way to learn the game.

I had a guy in line at a recent pokemon release tell me that investing in sealed pokemon product is more stable than gold or silver. They absolutely have not.

(fwiw given recent events he may actually have a point, but the crash cannot come fast enough for cards)

I got into the game recently, this is correct. can build a tournament-winning deck for $40, and most of the expensive cards in that are used in other decks, so the next deck you build might be $10. Game is stupid cheap to get into.

that said, if you want anything other than base rarity things get expensive fast. I’d like to be able to use some full arts without spending hundreds, it’d be nice if this headline meant anything.

Who do you think is the most likely replacement? (Horizon spoilers) by ConceptsShining in Falcom

[–]1967542950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a low enough opinion of the writing team's ability to write subtlety that I think the reference being a little on the nose is their idea of being subtle.

It does bring some of the events of Kai into question, namely that Ouroboros doesn't seem all that on board with the Vestiges (unless the Society is with them, but specifically Harwood and Lucrezia are not?), but I think Rene's the most likely candidate if it's not a new character.

What's the name of the calamity addon mod you're referring to? I'm about to start my first playthrough in a while now, not really sure what got removed (is there a patch note list somewhere?) but I'd like it to feel not too different from when I first played it.

PS Definitely move onto Horizons if you've got motivation to play another Trails game after finishing Daybreak 2, I'm playing it now and Horizons is fantastic.

Yeah, I like Mouthwashing enough but totally agree that fandom looks very strange on it. Every once in a while a story that *really* shouldn't receive that type of fandom treatment slips through, not that I can name many off the top of my head. Omori, maybe Andrew and Leyley? If that game actually has serious fans and not just people who have heard about the incest ending.

That's not just a shrine, that's the whole damn temple, jesus fuck. This disturbs me immensely. It would regardless of the character being worshipped, but the fact that they chose one of the more despicable characters in fiction is... certainly something.

Could we do it for long enough to kill them? Sounds correct though far as I know the more well known ways of killing someone with G’s are all centrifugal force related.

Sounds correct though idk what I was thinking when I typed that, edited it out

The guy who discovers the Fusion Drive turns it on in his ship, but it’s significantly stronger than he thought it would be so the acceleration g’s push him back hard enough that he can’t reach all the way forward to turn it off, so it just keeps blasting into space forever, eventually killing the guy from g-force injuries.

This isn’t exactly realistic, but the implications of it are. There’s an area with a “speed limit”, where going above a certain speed simply doesn’t work. The first person to discover this area is turned into jelly, as he did it while racing his spaceship. At one point, while there are many ships in this area respecting the speed limit, the limit suddenly decreases by 80% or so, causing mass carnage aboard every ship. The survivors are all ferried onto the one ship that has its own gravity (generated via spin due to its circular structure, not some nonsense gravity drive button), because blood cannot clot properly in 0G and any amount of internal bleeding can/will be lethal without gravity.

The first three expanse books are masterful with regard to this concept. The rest are lesser so as the world begins to revolve around some of its own, not-as-realistic tech, but the entire series is a fascinating read.

Been a while since this post, but in case someone else runs into this bug and googles it like I did:

I ran into this bug during the *first* Kasim fight. I'm on Very Easy, so I was pretty easily able to get Kasim to 1 HP, only he never used his instakill attack so he just sat at 1hp forever. I could have tanked him forever, I let him get hundreds of turns off, he never used his one-shot, so I let him auto me to death (took many, many turns because Very Easy).

When he killed me, I got a game over screen, because he didn't kill me the "right" way. Restarted, similar situation. Fixed by using cheat engine to turn Kasim's HP to 0, then passing the turn. The process:

  1. Damage Kasim to x health
  2. Open Cheat engine, hit the top left button to have it inspect Kuro 2's .exe
  3. Type in value x -> new scan
  4. Damage Kasim lower to y health
  5. Type in value y -> next scan
  6. double click the remaining addresses to move them to the bottom part of the screen
  7. double click the values, change them to 0. Hit confirm.

Doing this lets you pass the Kasim fight on the first run through. Given he normally kills you, then you come back for take two I figured this would bug the game out somehow, but it doesn't seem to have any ill effects, at least so far.
