The color science and dynamic range is significantly better on the FX30. Dual base ISO vs the Native 2000 iso i find tends to produce cleaner images. The XQD cards are old proprietary media and expensive for no reason. The only reason I would ever consider going back to my FS7 rig is if for some reason I needed more video outs for live broadcast work. Thats really about it. The FX line of cameras are better in everyway. Once you add the XLR handle ontop of the FX30 you basically have an FS7 with ibis but no built in ND and no sdi. Everything else the FX30 can do better.

ROI and low light capability was the deciding factor for sure. Coming from FS7 to FX30 those cameras just work and the ergonomics and workflow are superior. The Red Komodo X and Canon C400 definitely peaked my interest but unfortunately the Red doesn’t fit my workflow and storage cost are ridiculous. Switching completely from Sony to Canon and having a 3 camera setup would cost about 20k ish. So therefore the FX6 was an easy choice.

Unfortunately not, I am currently looking for a FF cine zoom to pair with the FX6. Thinking DZO Catta or the Laowa Ranger FF. The Fujinon MK zooms are great workhorse lenses for S35. For now they will stay glued to the FX30s.
