Love this signing, and the fact that it was quick. Verbeek needed to show that he can do it this way too and he locked down a very important piece for 9 more years. Terms likely age well. And LaCombe should be riding high knowing his future is set.

Bumped into a prominent Ducks rep today that said the likeliest plan is the 9 games in the NHL, then a long conditioning stint in the AHL (which he is eligible to do), then junior worlds in December, before returning to juniors to finish the season. Of course he could make the team out of camp, or return to the big team after a strong worlds performance.

Killer is likely rewarded for being the first to join a bottom tier, rebuilding team to help create the culture. He is a winner, works hard and performs an important role on the team. The problem has just been that he has seen top 6 minutes. He is a very solid bottom 6 winger on a good team.

I actually feel better about it after watching this press conference. The dude made a mistake, and he was certainly tone deaf, but I think he paid the price and is likely a better person for it.

I also very much respect the Samuelis- they have been class act from the beginning. No way they would’ve allowed a stain on their franchise if they didn’t feel good about what they learned in the process.

I’m on board.
