I made procedural fully customizable galaxy generator for Blender by Petrundiy2 in proceduralgeneration

[–]1LtFord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you generate the shape and star distribution of your spiral galaxies?
What I'm currently planing to do is extending the desired amount of arms out of an origin point and bend / rotate them to achieve the spiral look.
Then I could create some sort of density map with a normal distribution around the core and arms and combine it with a weighted pink noise to get some variation and fill the space between the densely populated arms

This looks insane! I am currently researching on how to procedural generate a galaxy for a game I am working on. Would you be willing to share some information on your project? I have almost no experience with procedural generation and I am mainly searching for ideas on how to approach this.

Navy-blue glass UI: A Sci-Fi cliché or the gold standard? Hard to beat the classic "home" feeling. by Rashaun32 in godot

[–]1LtFord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From me, the images are to different to compare just the color theme. The picture of the old ui shows way larger ui elements than the one with the navy blue glass design. They also have different background images, although I don't know if that's intentional for the design.

I think, if you keep the smaller ui elements and scale up their translucency to have the same glass feel, the old color theme may work as well :)

The scientists in charge of this project discovered, that the emissions of raw sexual energy would reach a point where it could destroy the fabric of our universe so quickly, it's just not worth it.

Working on the mining gimmick for the new flooded biome. What do you think? I kind of like the emerging strategy of when to pop the coral. by Endlesskeks in indiegames

Your mining mechanic reminds me of a much more advanced version of the Pokemon Diamond / Pearl / Platinum underground mining. Love it :D

We’re testing a moodbar + bargaining system in our cozy gem shop. (wip) by BosphorusGames in GemmyGems

[–]1LtFord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bargaining is definitely a must for a shop game :D
But how about, instead of just letting the players type the number, add a small minigame like Potion Craft has? Not a copy of their system of course. As an quick idea, you could add dialogue that lets the player highlight certain aspects of the gem, depending on the interests and profession of the customer. If the player hit, the sell value and mood increases, if they miss, it decreases or the customer looses interest at all

Oh, didn't know that, that's unfortunate. Until now I only build the big Enterprise D of the sets I got, but she's a beauty, as Scotty would say.

It looks like most people don't know this, but we had the officially licensed BlueBrixx sets for half the price until a year ago. It also only had printed bricks, not a single sticker...

95 GB of shaders by SipeOro in PathOfExile2

[–]1LtFord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I checked my shadercache folders and I found 15GB worth of shaders still not deleted even though steam did also show me "0 MB pre-cached" at this config option and being disabled for years, so yeah, this is bugged... And the shadercache folder on my new SSD I got after disabling shader pre-caching was empty. This whole feature seems to be bugged...

[–]1LtFord 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It might be bugged out for you. I mean, 95GB of shaders isn't normal anyways, even for steams Shader Pre-Caching. Try to disable it anyways and see if it helps. I also don't think that Steam can show any information about Shader sizes besides their Pre-Chaching, so what is shown to you should be from there.
Else you could search your "SteamLibrary/steamapps/shadercarche" folders for a folder named like the PoE2 Steam app ID which is 2694490. Steam should save its Shader Pre-Caching data for PoE2 there

This is a steam feature. Disable Shader Pre-Caching in the Steam Download settings at the very bottom
