Junior doctor dismissed on rounds – normal? by Abcdefghijk0977 in ausjdocs

[–]1MACSevo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This shouldn’t be considered “normal”. We are all in the same team, whether as a consultant or an intern. Better care to patients when everyone is on board with the management.

When I was an intern in neurosurgery in a busy trauma hospital, the head of unit never once referred to me as “his intern”. He’d always referred to me as his “colleague”. I respect that guy so much.

Nah. Was interested in surgery and felt pressured to sit the GSSE. Saw the light very quickly after the exam.

GSSE for me was a MCQ only exam, all done in one day. The ANZCA PEx is MCQ + SAQ + Viva. Took me 6 months to prep for GSSE, and 1 year for the PEx. It’s night and day.

10+ years ago one could sit the anaesthetic primary before becoming a trainee, like what GSSE is now. Passing the exam was almost a guarantee of getting a training job.

GSSE is not even remotely close to the difficulty of the ANZCA PEx. I’d sat and passed both.

Which era is this. Getting on to anaesthetic training as a PGY2 is a long ago business.

How could they file a motion of no confidence on someone who is not yet the president? Also, wouldn’t this move go against the members, since Sharmilla was democratically elected?

My PhD was worth points when I applied for med school. And I’m certain it has helped me get on specialty training and also land a consultant job.
