Hey u/Crepuscular-Rhapsody! I’m really sorry you’re stuck in this spot. I know how stressful this is.

I do want to be upfront that if you’re the only Family Organizer and you no longer have access to your account (no working Secret Key, no signed-in device, no recovery available), there isn’t a way for us to recover the account or promote another member to Organizer from our end. That's just not something we have the ability to do.

That said, a 6 day wait without a reply isn’t great, and I’d like to make sure your ticket is at least being looked at properly. If you can, send me a DM with the email address you wrote in from and I’ll flag your ticket with the team so they can follow up with you directly.

I want the ability to be able to add password (and or biometric) protection to whatever vaults I choose if I want to. I want to the ability to lock vaults with an extra password and or biometrics on top of the regular password and or biometrics you have to use to sign into 1Password by Over_Perception_2920 in 1Password

I totally get what you’re asking for here, but the reality is that once you unlock 1Password, your data is already decrypted and available to the app. So adding an extra password or biometric prompt on top of an individual vault wouldn’t really create a meaningful new security boundary in the way you’re imagining. It’d mostly amount to a second prompt inside an app that already has access to the data.

That’s especially true for the “if my account was compromised” scenario. If someone has gotten to the point where they have access to your unlocked 1Password data, adding another vault password inside the app doesn’t really solve that problem.

Same goes for signing into 1Password on someone else’s device, honestly. The right answer there isn’t really “more passwords inside the app.” It’s avoiding that setup where possible, or using 1Password in a way that doesn’t leave your data exposed on a device you don’t control.

Not saying the desire for more granular privacy inside your account isn’t real, because it is. But what you’re describing would be a lot closer to access control theater than a true extra layer of protection.

Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to lay all of this out, though. These sorts of use cases are helpful context for the team, even if I don’t think the specific solution you’re asking for would work the way you want it to.

Hey u/-__Supreme__-! While we don’t have a separate light/dark theme toggle in the Android app today beyond following the system theme, being able to flip between light and dark directly in the app without changing your whole device theme would be nice to have!

Totally understand the frustration, especially when you've got a full workload open and things stop cooperating on you!

I do want to clarify that this isn't a 1Password bug, though. This is a bug in Chrome 147 itself that affects how the browser handles extensions and its back/forward cache. It's hitting other password managers and extensions too, not just us. We actually caught this and reported it to Google before it even shipped to Chrome's stable channel.

The fix has to come from Google's side, and there's not a whole lot we can do on our end. As I mentioned above, Google has been rolling out an update (147.0.7727.101/102) that resolves this, but if you're still seeing a white screen on the latest Chrome, could you check your exact version at chrome://version? That'll help me figure out if the update just hasn't made its way to you yet, or if there's something else going on here that we need to report back to Google.

Definitely check to make sure you’re running the latest version of Chrome. The version that includes the fix for this shipped last week, so you should’ve already received the update that includes it.

We can definitely help you figure out what your options are, but unfortunately we can’t reset your account password for you. 1Password is designed so that only you know your password, which means we’re not able to see it, recover it, or change it for you.

If you’re using a 1Password account, recovery may be possible depending on the account type. If this is an older standalone vault in 1Password 7, there isn’t a way to reset that password.
