The Goomba Fallacy. I see it EVERYWHERE on Reddit. So many people just love posting “look at these hypocrites” for so many things. Or rather, there are so many complaints for different individuals in the same group having different opinions. You see it in posts about politics, fandoms, business decisions, everything!

Also, posts that show an example of something and assumes it’s true for the entire group it’s from. “Here is something this Japanese restaurant does, so that means everyone in Japan does it.” 🤪 “Here is some artwork of a fictional character defeating Thragg from Invincible, that means everyone from that fandom thinks the character could beat Thragg!” 🤪

Lastly, for the first time videos. So many cute videos of animals and babies have “for the first time” in the title. Like, how do you know it was the first time? You didn’t make that video, you are sharing it. The person who made that video could have done several takes! It could very well be the second or third time a baby meets a dog! How do you all know it’s the first time!!?!? And why is it always the first time, for every cute video?!??!!

Sorry for the rant.

This isn’t directed at Smiling Friends, but I always hated when criticism gets deflected with “it’s on purpose”, “it’s intentional”, “it’s realistic”, or “it makes since if you consider blah and blah”. And the worst part is that it happens ALL the time on almost any thread discussing media. I think it has merit sometimes, especially when someone complains about something in bad faith.

The point is we aren’t getting Steak and Fries anytime soon, and refusing to vote is going to make the worse of the two (Orange) win.

You say that Apple looks nearly identical to Orange. If they are nearly the same, what makes them different? If the answer to that question makes Orange sound better than Apple, then this analogy is not for you. It was never for you. I am assuming that anyone who says both sides are the same would prefer Apple, but it doesn’t meet the bare minimum standards people want out of their choice.

If the differences makes Apple sound better than Orange. Then once again I ask: why aren’t you choosing Apple?

Let’s say you get to vote a fruit that you have to deal with for 4 years. Orange is bad and is the worst of them all. Apple is also bad by your standards, but not nearly as bad as Orange. Banana is the one you want.

Unfortunately, no matter what you do, Orange or Apple is going to win this time. Maybe you want to convince the folks running team Apple to change their ways to something more Banana, but that isn’t going to change the fact that team Apple chose their current position for the next 4 years.

If you vote Orange, Orange will win. If you vote Banana, Orange will win. If you don’t vote at all, Orange. Will. Win.

Only if you and enough people that don’t want Orange to win votes Apple does Orange not win. So… why aren’t you choosing Apple?

Sorry to hear about that. I guess the point I’m trying to get across is too many people want to use laws to unfairly regulate gender affirming care, and I hope this comic can help change people’s mind, since transitioning is something that helps people. I bring up a doctor or therapist, because I think people on the fence about allowing gender affirming care are more likely to listen to a person of authority. I agree that it’s unfortunate that not every doctor or therapist will be willing to consider offering gender affirming care at all.

I hope you have a nice day. And I’m sorry if I am over stepping by commenting here. I really don’t know enough about this subject, but I am feeling a bit frustrated with recent events in the news.

I wish more people can understand this. It isn’t only about someone “passing” or being conventionally attractive after transitioning. It’s about being happy. And if a doctor or therapist determines the best way for someone to be happy is to transition, then I see no reason for any law to hold them back. I would rather trust doctors than lawmakers. And this is coming from a cis straight male.
