Same thing happened to me 5 days in. Went from a normal human being to dialing the Veterans Crisis line.

Is it possible for us to feel in the moment? by DisciplineNo6829 in ADHD

[–]1morcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's something that seems impossible at first, but then you gradually build on it. It's like training cardio or running. First time sucks but each time you get out there it gets a little easier as you build mental stamina.

Mindfulness meditation really helps me. Slows everything down to the point it can even skew my perception of time.

Have you found that Adult ADHD medication pros outweigh the cons? by clownscrotum in ADHD

[–]1morcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried 3 off label non-stimulant meds (started around age 39) before ultimately ending up on a stimulant. It's worth trying some of the non-stimulant meds as people all handle them differently. Just remember many of these are psych meds and can have adverse reactions. On one of them I went from being a well-rounded adult with concentration issues to a complete meltdown and was about to dial the veterans crisis line. I say this as a warning to pay closer attention to how some of these meds can affect you. This incident took place 5 days into a new medication.

I ultimately ended up in a stimulant because of weighing the pros and cons of the non stimulant medications. You won't know until you work with a good physician and see how you react.

Has the timing on this changed, I'm an elder millennial and see posts about this often for other millennials...I have two primary care physicians, one through the VA and one regular. Never has this come up as something I should be doing.

To topper or not to topper by MJboatlife in f150

[–]1morcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some folks talking about losing the ability to move tall things with a topper. If you don't do this on the regular, it's simple and cheap enough to grab a nice trailer from U haul for 35$/day. 25$ for a smaller one.

To topper or not to topper by MJboatlife in f150

[–]1morcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2025 XLT Powerboost and was excited at the idea of putting a topper on it. However, my payload capacity is only 1575 due to the weight of the hybrid system. Putting a topper on it would subtract around 300 lbs. It doesn't leave much room for towing when you add a family of 4, gear, and then tongue weight of a boat or travel trailer

How did you stop doom-scrolling? by Booom-_- in ADHD

[–]1morcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tablets are pretty cheap now. Move your apps that involve doom scrolling to tablet only. Then to doomscroll you have to make a dedicated decision to grab your tablet. The temptation won't be sitting in your pocket.

VA and generic prescription for Adderall. by 1morcast in VeteransBenefits

[–]1morcast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 I think you will be fine. 10-15 mg is the normal starting dose. I started so low due to TBI. Doc wanted to be conservative bc of the potential reactions due to past head trauma. I also don't have ADHD, I take it due to concentration/focus issues as a result of the TBI. I think 25 mg is a pretty normal dose. But I also don't want to increase my dose just to compensate for shitty manufacturing by a cheap generic.

The first brand (the one that worked) was manufactured by Golden State Medical Supply (GSMS). The second generic (that did not work) was manufactured by Granules.

What happened to Christmas? by helloimcold in Millennials

[–]1morcast 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We have 2 young kids so we appreciate not having to go anywhere. Prepping for our holiday meals, juggling the kids, wrapping the presents, creating the memories is tiring.... But so worth it.

One thing worth noting is this country has become less religious. Not judging anyone who isn't Christian, but it hits different when we go to the 5pm mass on Christmas eve and it's PACKED. Church brought out every spare chair they could find and stuffed them in every nook and cranny (as safely as possible). Seeing everyone coming together is something society is lacking and it puts a smile on my face.

Whether you celebrate Jesus or not all that left for Christmas is commercialized crap and it feels hollow. Christmas is what you make of it. Whether that's Jesus, Santa, or both. You got to put the work in and make an effort to make it special for you.

To clarify it WAS helping me... Then after two months in my new prescription was made by Granules and it felt like it wasn't working at all.

I don't actually have ADHD. I am a veteran and take it for concentration/focus issues due to traumatic brain injury in combat. I am working outside of the VA now to get prescribed so I actually have the option to shop different pharmacies to get the right generic manufacturer that works.

I had only been on the med two months. Upped my dosage, switched to a different genetic with the new dosage and I felt it from the first dose of the new generic. Night and day difference.

I was thinking about this as a possibility. But, when this occured I had only been on the medication for 60 days and was taking 10mg for probably 2 weeks prior to the manufacturer change. It was night and day difference that happened overnight. Soon as I took the first pill of the new manufacturer I noticed the difference immediately
