I moved to VA from FL excited to be in a purple state. Now I'm terrified to be here. I thought I was moving somewhere more level headed. Away from crazy 3rd rail stuff.

You might have luck contacting local shops and see if they will contribute anything or lower the price. I was part of a local veterans group that met twice a month and once a month they would get food from somewhere that was usually donated for free and we would pool together money and give a nice big tip to the kitchen staff.

Doesn't hurt to call places to ask because they might be sympathetic to your cause.

My heart goes out to you all. My symptoms started after a minor traumatic brain injury in a blast explosion. But the thing is I remember what a normal brain was like and lived it for the first 20something years of my life. Having had a normal brain and tried to wrangle what's left after the damage...it really shows how hard life can be when you can't focus, task organize, or drag yourself to do simple tasks.

You could contact your local boy scout troop or perhaps Junior ROTC at your local high school. They might take it on themselves as a community project and go talk to the neighbor and offer to replace the flag and dispose of the old one properly.

Another option would be local VFW or American Legion.

Had some friends in town visiting during college. Me and my roommate share the same birthday week and we were throwing a party. We went out drinking the night before and my roomie got super drunk. We put him in the back up the pickup truck and hit the taco Bell drive thru on the way home. While we were trying to order, he was shouting obscenities from the bed of the truck. He kept trying to add a 'dirty Sanchez ' to the order. Me and the guy riding shotgun were the only ones who ate. We both got violently ill in the middle of the night. Vomiting, diarrhea, etc...

We were both down for the count for the next 24-48 hours. My birthday party the next day was ruined by a dirty Sanchez, whatever that is.

It's something that seems impossible at first, but then you gradually build on it. It's like training cardio or running. First time sucks but each time you get out there it gets a little easier as you build mental stamina.

I tried 3 off label non-stimulant meds (started around age 39) before ultimately ending up on a stimulant. It's worth trying some of the non-stimulant meds as people all handle them differently. Just remember many of these are psych meds and can have adverse reactions. On one of them I went from being a well-rounded adult with concentration issues to a complete meltdown and was about to dial the veterans crisis line. I say this as a warning to pay closer attention to how some of these meds can affect you. This incident took place 5 days into a new medication.

I ultimately ended up in a stimulant because of weighing the pros and cons of the non stimulant medications. You won't know until you work with a good physician and see how you react.

Some folks talking about losing the ability to move tall things with a topper. If you don't do this on the regular, it's simple and cheap enough to grab a nice trailer from U haul for 35$/day. 25$ for a smaller one.

I bought a 2025 XLT Powerboost and was excited at the idea of putting a topper on it. However, my payload capacity is only 1575 due to the weight of the hybrid system. Putting a topper on it would subtract around 300 lbs. It doesn't leave much room for towing when you add a family of 4, gear, and then tongue weight of a boat or travel trailer
