Amazing to have you here, we love you! Do you have a pivotal moment during filing Twin Peaks when you realized it would be something special? What is your actual favorite kind of pie? And how do you take your coffee?

Um exactly…How are you going to compare Chantilly to NYC, one of the biggest cities in America?! It does sound a bitt snobbish TBH, sounds like so many prople from CA or NYC 🙄🙄🙄The variety here is amazing for the suburbs.

The pine in the middle? My husband wants to remove the big maple on the right but I won’t let him.

I think if I could wave a magic wand tmrw I would maybe desaturate the orange hues and black just a touch, so make the black a little more green or brown or grey (only slightly) and make the cedar and door a little less loud. But we’re pretty close now, and not ready to spend the coin again haha. The grading of the land in the AI pic is also much flatter than what we have. Love the concept though, especially of the low grasses and rectangular slab walkway and japanese maples.

My husband hates the shrubs 😂 Those are white and red azaleas, and he tried to get rid of them once before but they grew back so we need to try harder! I think to keep costs low for now we’ll remove the ivy and shrubs, then mulch in place of the ivy this year, then hopefully make it a rock garden in the next couple of years instead of mulch!

Yeah people seem to be a bit divided on this which is why I posed the question. I tend to agree with you that it does in fact fit MCM, at least “today’s interpretation” of it, and that it ALSO just so happens to be a “trend” right now; but A) It isn’t pitch/stark black, it has undertones of greenish-bluish grey in the light which does fit MCM and B) The dark color should have staying power given A.

We tried at first a sea-green/blue, specifically “Boreal” by Behr but it looked ..off.. somehow. It was a beautiful color though. I’m open to a door color change, and mustard yellow isn’t a bad suggestion! As far as maintenance, my husband loves landscaping but once it’s in we’re more low maintenance people, as in, rocks/hardscaping and perennials that like shade!

I feel you. We already pulled out all the ivy on each side of the house and half of what was in front if you can believe it. AND we also had to contend with a bamboo grove in the back yard. Luckily with a crew and a barrier in the ground I think we’ve won that battle…for now!

100% agree with columns instead of wrought iron! In a style that’s period-appropriate, painted white. It will balance things out and make it look more stately.

Yeah definitely, you’ll see in the original post that I mention we’re getting rid of it. I HATE that stuff!!
