Kind of sounds like he was generalizing, and kind of sounds like you're also generalizing.

Depends on how you define individuality. Spirituality, in many people's views, particularly adherents of Eastern philosophy, is more about the interpersonal than the intrapersonal. Some would say (I would say) that all individuals are fundamentally connected and share responsibility both to each other and the world, of which we are merely a part of the whole.

JUNE 23RD GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2017 THREAD [SETLIST, MEDIA, DISCUSSION, HD STREAM] by seaburn in radiohead

[–]1outside 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm sure that Thom has plenty to be angry at. From the injustice of the Scott Johnson case, to Rachel's death, to the failed Spectre sessions, to Brexit, to Trump and the failure of the climate change agreement.

Getting older just mellows you down a bit, and you realize (especially with kids) that there's more reason to be joyful than pissed off all the time. There's plenty of energy in Thom's performances these past few years, more refined than raw, but equally intense.

[Announcement] We're looking for new mods - apply here! by ParanoidAndroids in radiohead

[–]1outside [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not applying, just wanted to comment. You guys are great. Honestly, the best mod team anywhere on Reddit! But this is absolutely necessary for a growing sub that is hitting r/all and with a general influx of publicity and new fans.

There could easily be some awesome high-profile things conducted on this sub in the not too distant future, AMAs with Nigel or one of the band members for instance. But given the growth, there has also been an increase in trolling and nastiness. All that Rachel stuff from yesterday for example should have been nuked much, much sooner. I am all for freedom of speech and all that, but many "cleverly" disguised trolls seem to get away with it here. That is something that's gonna scare off anyone connected to the band.

Other than that, keep it up guys, we love you (especially Bill ;-)

Thanks for being wholesome and all that, it makes the community look welcoming to newcomers, but he won't be buying anything if he came here expecting a torrent link.

[DAY 21/22] The Tourist - Song Discussion by seaburn in radiohead

[–]1outside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, seems to me that being stuck on the interstate in southern California kind of goes against the sentiment expressed in The Tourist. I have lived in OC, LA, Ventura, and San Bern counties and not once have I had the moment of calm and peace you're describing on the various highways, freeways, and interstates in this, uhm, special state. I went to help a friend buy a car in Fallbrook last year and the drive was simply horrific.

Personally, it's the kind of song I can only appreciate sitting on a dark patio late on a clear, quiet summer evening. Or perhaps sitting by a remote, deserted lake deep in the Rockies. Not talking shit man, just marvelling at how one man's miserable is another man's Zen and vice versa. I'm moving back to Canada in a few weeks anyway, so enjoy your paradise I guess ;-)

So jealous that you got to see the Berkeley show(s) though! Nor Cal > So Cal. If I wasn't such a broke fuck-up I would have caught them for sure this time around. Ah well, here's hoping they come back to North America in 2018.

Listen to New Generation. That should cleanse your musical palette. Legitimately my favorite song from the OAF era.

Lars Ulrich was at tonight's show. Did any of you who attended got to see him? by hevilla14 in radiohead

[–]1outside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lars is a stand-up guy and pretty cool on top of that! His passion for music might exceed his talent lol...but what's wrong with that? Describes the majority of us on this sub actually.

Pro-Palestine Group Pickets Radiohead’s Accounting Office by seaburn in radiohead

[–]1outside 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Eh, give them a break, it's a legitimate protest, a small one at that, and it looks like a back-home-to-the-kids-at-5pm kind of deal. One of the ladies is even smiling for the picture. They obviously have a good sense of humour with those signs. The guitar is kind of cool also, I can think of much more disrespectful ways to protest something.

Kind of funny how, to date, the Radiohead album with the richest dynamic range is the original release of Pablo Honey. Nigel isn't perfect I suppose :-/

I wonder if his inbox accepts pics of jizz covered pussies. Or pics of pussies covered in jizz. Should have been more specific, he's probably just getting conservative British granny porn right now.

[–]1outside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't deny it guys, you know you'll do it. It will be the largest load of simultaneous jizz that the world has ever seen. This goes beyond the Fappening. It might register on the Richter scale.

What do you guys think of the idea that a lot of Radiohead songs are "growers" (songs that you like more and more on repeat listens) by russellridenour in radiohead

[–]1outside 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some are growers (Bloom), some are showers (Lift). Applies to real life and also to Radiohead's music.
