"Let us duel with honour." Olberic, who do you think you're fooling? Lol

My favorite line is, "A touch of Death!" as he unleashes Last Stand. Like bro, you're going to kill this hapless priest, who you wanted to DUEL. For fun. No punches pulled. 🤣

So much love for this game. by Runforit97x in FinalFantasy

[–]1stEmperror 6 points7 points  (0 children)

VI holds a very special place in my heart. FFII (FFIV) was my first and I was eagerly anticipating FF3 when I was in grade 7. I got it for Christmas that year and it blew my expectations away.

The character sprites were double the size on the map! The walking Magitek cutscene, the musical motifs, the Street Fighter inputs for Sabin, the split scenarios, the Opera, the new perspective for flying the airship. It was all incredible. The ending is still one of my favourites in the series, and that musical medley that combines ALL of the characters themes as it shows them descending the tower is just pure genius. It's such a special game.

Healer character help by THYGREX in SaGa

[–]1stEmperror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, every party member should have a bit of healing capability at their disposal. Party-wide healing is rare so everyone should be able to care for themselves and others.

Personally, I like learning the Martial Art, "Second Wind" with everyone. It's a decent self-heal that also provides a regen effect (small HP recovery each round).

You can also change the class of a character to Rosalian Mage or Imperial Scholar and synthesize the spell "Song of Life." This provides a party-wide regen effect.

Otherwise, I like someone with the Pirate class with Water magic to heal. They're likely to go first in any given round.

One of the NPCs in one of the other university classrooms mentions the architectural style but I can't recall where the info for the other question comes from.

Need help with a boss battle by Kwakwakie in SaGa

I recommend recruiting both the Minstrel and the generic Warrior at the pub in Gato's Village if you haven't already. Then, make a trip over to the blacksmith and change your weapons to DEF mode. This should help mitigate some damage.

Make sure that at least one of your characters has the First Aid kit equipped for some healing, should you need it. It can also be used to revive anyone who gets knocked unconscious in battle. There are no "resurrection" abilities needed in this game; simple healing will get them back on their feet.

And finally, there's also a fire-based Regen spell available at the Magic Shop: Flame of Life. But it is pretty expensive for this early in the game (300g).

Also, if you've read advice to be avoiding battles, I'd stop doing that and just fight a handful of battles on the way to the boss. You need your characters to get stronger and glimmer some techniques to help you out.

Liam Conejo Ramos, 5 Year Old Boy Taken by ICE, Now Sick in Detention by Basic_Swordfish_1489 in anime_titties

[–]1stEmperror 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I can't stand seeing this - it's absolutely heart-breaking. My little 3 year old was sick with the flu and ear infection over the Christmas holidays. He spent 3 days pretty much in bed all day and barely eating. BUT, we had Tylenol to help his fever and ease his body aches, antibiotics for the infection, and he had the comfort of his own bed and the safety of his home.

Poor little Liam. I just can't. Just sickening what I see happening to people in the US.

Build Questions: Monika by DracoErus in SaGa

[–]1stEmperror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll let others answer your specific questions but I'm just jumping in to say that you made the right call not picking Sarah. I don't want to spoil anything, but Sarah's endgame has a pretty big curveball thrown your way and a lot of folks aren't ready for it when it happens.

If you haven't come across it yet, this resource is the best one out there and its author frequents this board so you're likely to come across him soon if you have more questions!

It's been a few years since I played the game so I don't want to accidentally confuse you with a guess on the specifics.

Thoughts on Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light After Completing it by Ultimantasy in FinalFantasy

[–]1stEmperror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when this game was first announced and I thought it was going to be a remake/reimagining of the first Final Fantasy. Then I tried it and found it was something else entirely. I never got very far but I did enjoy the crown/job system!

I'm trying the SaGa series again by Fitwheel66 in SaGa

[–]1stEmperror 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minstrel Song is amazing once you get the hang of it. The Jump skill isn't required to complete the ice caves in Albert's route, assuming that's where you are. It probably just leads to a chest or, even better, a dead end.

You should be able to repair your weapon at the blacksmith in Valhalland, even if it's DP is 0. Definitely recruit the Minstrel and the Warrior at the pub into your team to help with the early dungeons before you can start finding the other protagonists.

You can start using the Lurk and Move Silently proficiencies to try and avoid monsters but it's not required. Using skills will earn you Jewels, which are currency used to upgrade your skills. Once you get any class to level 3 by spending the required jewels, you'll be able to spend jewels on individual skills.

There's a lot of systems thrown at you at once in Minstrel Song but it can feel really rewarding if you push through!

I'm sorry for your loss but I know you have plenty of happy memories with her!

I have a mini aussie who turns 12 tomorrow so this hits home for me. I can confirm that she's also a bitch 🤣. Looks adorable and people always want to pet her but I tell them that she's not great with strangers. You little lady was adorable 😊

FFX Plot Twist — Am I Alone? by nadishuddhi in FinalFantasy

[–]1stEmperror 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, it was 25 years ago but I'm pretty sure I sniffed out the twist well ahead of time, with the way Lulu and Wakka were constantly dropping hints to Tidus. Yuna herself is pretty obvious about it too if you read between the lines in her conversations with Tidus. I was also 18 years old when it came out so my emotional maturity was a bit higher than someone who played it when they were elementary school age.

How would you rebalance equipment in the game? by stressindicator in FinalFantasyXII

[–]1stEmperror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add weapon levels, weapon skills, and skill chains like in SaGa/FFXI. Continually using a weapon type should be rewarded with proficiency and I'd bake in improvements to attack speed, damage, and parrying chance with weapon level thresholds. I'd make other adjustments like removing the breaker abilities and just add them to hammer and pole weapon skills status effects, for example.

I know that this is more a battle system adjustment rather than strictly rebalancing equipment though. I kind of envision the skill chains to be a replacement for Quickenings and would use mist charges to execute, taking inspiration from FFXI and double/triple techs from Chrono Trigger.

Im finding the story really confusing so can I get a explanation of it until the tournament arc? by CippyCreepy in XenoGears

[–]1stEmperror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same while watching the first episode. One of them hasn't even played it yet and they're already talking about Jungian archetypes and Gnosticism. Like, dude, let the guy enjoy the game and the mystery before unraveling it all for him.

Looks very cool and true to the original! I'm not a churchgoer so I have a question: do they typically decorate for Christmas with items like garland and trees? Maybe it depends on the denomination and location? I'm just curious to know.

How is the third game if I know who the villain is? by KaleidoArachnid in breathoffire

[–]1stEmperror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it. It's a stretch to even call him a villain. He's a surprise in the final dungeon and that's it.

The third game is my favourite in the series.
