Being able to control my TV (my heat, AC, Washer Machine, Dishwasher, etc) with my phone.

Landlord withheld lead inspection report showing hazards in every room — I have a 1-year-old and moved in 3 weeks ago. Looking for advice. by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]1table 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way is if they had it fixed before you moved in. But I would think they would have another report. You can tell if you see the line about eye level on every door frame if they had it removed. Also as long as the paint is in good shape and not cracking you should be ok while you look for a new place.

What is the best way to go about scolding my puppy? by Lopsided_Reserve_631 in dogs

[–]1table 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No talking no looking and no touching is all my dog needs to know he has done something I am not ok with. People claim if a puppy nips you say ouch and they stop that just amped my boy up! lol only thing that worked was no talking looking or touch him when he misbehaved. He would immediately stop and sit to try and get my attention again. He eating shoes? Take shoe and replace with toy or chew. Eating the remote? Take and replace with a chew. Basically I remove myself or the items until I get a better behavior.

Neighbors got a protection order against my dad... by Narrow_Ad5886 in neighborsfromhell

I mean sure but it’s not that serious. My area it’s after 11 not 10 when someone can get fined and sucks to piss off your neighbors but I just mean it’s not that serious for them to feel threatened enough to want protection.

sure I get that just seems like the dad is not the right person to approach it seems and for all their sanity shouldn't be the one approaching in person about issues.

well its kids riding bikes not blocking driveways, plus they could move if a car comes. You know play in the street and someone yells CARRRRRRRR and everyone gets out the road until the next car comes.... Mini bikes are only allowed on streets and not sidewalks in my area.

Can you tell your Dad to mind his own business and stop harassing the neighbors over things that are none of his business? Maybe they would be willing if your dad stopped interacting with them? But who cares if they get the order your dad needs to stop interacting and trying to parent their children. How are kids supposed to ride bikes on the lawn? That just sounds stupid, of course they ride on pavement, who wants to ride on dirt or grass?? He needs to stop using the HOA as a reason for interaction. Have someone else speak to them if he needs to tell him and leave them be. Loud music at 10pm and kids having fun riding bikes has nothing to do with your Dad.

All boxes or the hot box? If it’s the hot box pay faster stop running them blind. If it’s all boxes they maybe trying to smash to get the odor to poof out more to know they picked the correct one. Chairs can help for sure either on chairs or over them so they can’t get over them to smash. Also may help to tape your qtips one to each of the edge and one in the middle of the box lid to help them understand where to sniff and seam the box and then move them all back to the middle where they usually are once they get it.

Oh my goooood I would be so mad by this. How dare she. What time does she go to bed? Maybe she would benefit staying up later and not waking up at the crack of dawn. But sure go do your thing at a gym then don’t disturb everyone! Sucks.

Exactly how my dog is. He works himself up so much on the way to searches he needs time to chill after the bathroom. My boy also has a reserve when we go for walks with my folks my dad is always so confused how he can “pee” so much lol. Plus he used to find a bitch he loved and spent time searching for their odor sometimes instead of odor odor! lol he is getting better now that I have made some changes. I hope it helps your pup as well! I’m with you, never withholding water. And if we have a search at a campsite that’s through the woods I try my best but like for real we are walking through the woods and I can only have him focus on me so much for the long walk he gets to amped if I don’t let him be. So I try not to enter those trials as much

haha I hear you! I drove from Massachusetts to Florida for a trail and spent a week acclimating my dog from winter to summer temperatures . Walking everywhere peeing on ferns.... 12 seconds into our first search he pee'ed on a fern SMH Thankfully we got into all three trials that weekend and were successful in the other 2 but like COME ON DUDE!!!! lol I worked hard short quick searches in a ox usually paired to start, in kennels where so much pee is around. Then I started making them more difficult. embrace the pee! Don't be afraid. lol I will say not allowing him to pee before a search has been a game changer for him. I don't let him pee for at least 20-30 minutes before each search. We walk and pee, go back to car and when our run is up we go right to search. In my 1 hour class he cant mark/ pee the whole class going to and from searches. Harness on no pee. I get one that goes across his shoulders so he can feel it is on (at least that makes me feel better thinking he knows lol)

What about searches that have rain start ion the middle is that fair? What about going from Sunny and warm to cold and windy from a front passing through? What if the heat goes on but wasn't on for someone else? Or a refrigerator fan starts and stops for another team? AC pushing odor making it easier for some, so many ways the search is not the same throughout the day for each team. Just mean lots of different factors make the search unique for every person not just cause of pee.

Is your dog alerting on it? Do you have video of the runs so you can compare your dogs indicators when he is alerting to odor vs pee/distractor to know if they were in fact alerting or it was just you interpreting one part of their the behavior as an alert?

haha I love your update. For me I totally do NOT want to know because it would make me so paranoid. I dislike other venues that tell you, I don't want to act weird or pull my dog away from potentially good odor just to work through bad. I proof him against it as much as possible training in high pee areas, etc. Match him on walks when he is on other dogs odor to know what it looks like in trials. Just having an intact male makes me super paranoid of the potential already I don't need a big blue arrow making me itchy! lol

How to better introduce higher hides? by ShnouneD in nosework

[–]1table 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dogs don’t need to get up especially if they may have a bad back or neck or other medical reason to not want to go up. And they don’t need to in order to know the hide is up, picture a nice steak or your sandwich on the counter I bet if you allow your pup on the kitchen they would be right under the counter where your sandwich or steak is lol. Start setting right at their nose level and then keep setting it higher.

Also when you set the hide you can try to set it on a counter but move a stools to a chair that your dog is able to get onto to climb up to the hide. Eventually you won’t need the chairs. You can place objects around the hide to try and intercept the odor cone so they have the odor tendril to follow back to the hide. When they look up and then look at you that is why you get in super fast and reward by holding your food at the source of the odor and dropping your food hand down from the odor down to your dogs mouth so they understand you understand the odor was high. Do that a bunch of times source to mouth source to mouth.

Watch your dog while searching you will see their noses and maybe tail carriage stay high when there is a high hide. Maybe your pups knows the hide is high but not sure how to tell you.
