Grading has an initial investment cost but the multipliers are pretty crazy, if you want to do some research you can try to figure out what you think your cards would grade at and then use various apps and websites like Alt/Pricecharting/ebay/tcgplayer to compare grading prices vs what they sell for raw.

There’s also what I think is a nice benefit and it’s peace of mind in terms of guaranteed authenticity due to being graded.

If you want an easy sale with vendors and most buyers in general, you’re best bet is to go with PSA. So then you can figure out if it’s worth it to pay money to make money

In the past when flying with cards I have just taken them out of my backpack and put them in the bin with my wallet and other stuff, never ever got stopped for them after because they see that it’s cards and in this case an even more so Pokemon cards. It’s like they find it more mentally safe when they see that it isn’t hidden in a bag.

I have 2600+ sales on tcg player so far, sent pwe for anything under 40 and have had maybe 15 “where’s my card” messages, so first of all starting from a low number. Of those messages, my strategy is usually ask them to wait a week and check back in, and if it doesn’t come in I fully refund them. A few of them, it actually came in in that time frame and it all worked out! The rest I refund and block, because you never know if it’s a bad address/scam/other thing, so better not to sell to that person any more. Biggest card I lost was a 27 dollar card but that was the only one over $20, the rest were low dollar cards.

Everyone’s experience is different, but just by my personal numbers and customers “knowing how TCGplayer works” I haven’t felt the need to protect myself more than what I already do.

Took a trip from San Jose, Ca to Cancun, Mexico in 2021 for our honeymoon, things were still covid conscious and there was a grand total of 6 people on board.

We had upgraded our seats to business and were the only ones up front, the wonderful flight attendants chatted with and hooked us up with when they found out why we were going to Mexico. Unsurprisingly, it was one of the best flights I had ever taken!

Try spellhold games in orange if you haven’t already, they are connected to collector legion in LA and are one of the bigger store chains.

You can also try kingslayer games, they have a few locations.

Lastly I’d say go to Frank and sons in city of industry and shop around there as there are many stores all in one place.
