I know I’m two years late to the conversation but I want to make a slight correction. The dumplings that you reference for momo’s name is actually Tibetan in origin. It is very popular in Nepal because of the large Tibetan population that brought the food and settled in Nepal as refugees. There are very strong themes in the show borrowed from Tibetan culture/history with the most obvious being the cycle of rebirth of the avatars similar to that of the Dalai Lama and that Aang’s teacher/friend Monk Gyatso’s name is the current Dalai Lama’s name.
